Sencito / Mobile app / App guide

    Support

    Mobile app guide.

We’ll walk you through the Sencito app step by step: from your first login through the sensor map and charts to alerts and municipality administration. Screenshots show where to find everything.

    App version 2.0.48 Updated

Download onGoogle Play Download onApp Store

    Getting started

This chapter walks you through installing the Sencito app, launching it for the first time and allowing notifications. You will learn to find your way around the bottom bar with five tabs, go back, use bottom panels and refresh data by pulling down.

    Installation and updates

The Sencito app is free for Android phones and for iPhone. You install and update it exclusively through the app store.

    Install the app

Purpose / when: You download the app once, the first time you use it. After that you can follow your municipality from your pocket: municipality messages, sensors and alerts.

    1. Open the Google Play store (Android) or the App Store (iPhone) and search for "Sencito". → In the store the app is listed as "Sencito (Chytřejší obec)".
    2. Tap Install (Android) or Get (iPhone). → The app downloads and installs. It is free.
    3. When the installation finishes, find the icon named "Sencito" on your home screen or in the app list (on iPhone the name is written in lowercase, "sencito") and tap it. → The app starts, see Launch the app.

Result: The app is installed on your phone and you can launch it.

Tip: You will also find the store links on the sencito.cz website. After you uninstall and reinstall the app, you have to log in again.

Update the app and find the version

Purpose / when: You want the latest version of the app, or you need to know your version number, for example when contacting support.

    1. Update in the store. In Google Play or the App Store, open the "Sencito" app page (by searching, in the App Store also via your profile at the top right) and tap Update. → The new version installs over the old one. If the Update button is not available, you have the latest version.
    2. To find out which version you have, open the Profile tab and scroll all the way down. → On the Version row on the right is the number of the installed version.

Result: You have the current version of the app and know which version number you use.

Tip: The app does not tell you about a new version and has no link to the store. The simplest way is to turn on automatic app updates in the store.

    First launch

What the app does after launch, why you should allow notifications and what to do when the data cannot be loaded.

    Launch the app

Purpose / when: Every time you start the app. You find out what happens on the splash screen and where you can go next.

    1. Tap the Sencito icon. → The splash screen with the app logo appears. After your first login, on later launches it also shows your municipality's emblem (if available) and its name. Meanwhile the data loads in the background.
    2. If you are not logged in, the app continues to the Login / Register screen. → You will find the procedure in the Login and registration chapter, see Continue with email.
    3. If you are logged in, the app renews the login by itself, loads the data and opens the Home tab. → You do not have to enter your password each time you start the app.
    4. Another screen may appear before Home. If your login has expired and cannot be renewed automatically, "Login recovery" appears. → Enter your password, see Log in again after expiry.
    5. If you have not chosen a main info channel (your municipality), the app asks you to choose one. A municipality administrator does not have this step. → See Choose your municipality (main info channel). If you go back from the selection without choosing a municipality, the app logs you out.
    6. If the general terms or your municipality's terms of service have changed in the meantime, the app asks for your agreement before Home (possibly one after the other for both). → See Confirm the new terms.
    7. The first time you reach the main screen, the phone shows a question about allowing notifications. → See Allow notifications.

Result: A logged-in user lands on Home, a logged-out user on login or registration.

Tip: Do not close the app during the initial loading. If the data cannot be loaded, the app offers the Repeat button, see Starting the app without a connection.

Tip: Your login is remembered on the phone until you log out yourself with the Logout button on the Profile tab, see Log out.

    Allow notifications

Purpose / when: For sensor alerts and messages from your municipality to reach you even when the app is not open, you have to allow notifications on your phone.

    1. The first time you reach the main screen (after your first login), the phone asks whether Sencito may send you notifications. Choose Allow. → The app can show you sensor alerts and municipality messages.
    2. If you declined the question, turn notifications on in the phone settings. On Android, open Settings → Apps → Sencito → Notifications and turn them on (the item names may differ slightly depending on the phone manufacturer). On iPhone, open Settings → Notifications → Sencito and turn on Allow Notifications. → Alerts start arriving.

Result: Your phone may show notifications from the Sencito app.

Note: The question appears on iPhone and on Android 13 and later. On older Android versions it does not appear and notifications are allowed automatically. After you decline, the phone usually does not ask again, so you have to turn notifications on in the settings. The app does not say anything after you decline; the alerts simply do not arrive.

Tip: Allowing notifications on the phone is only the first step. Which messages you want to receive and how (app, email, SMS) you set on the Profile tab, see System notifications and How you want to receive messages.

Starting without a connection – the Repeat button

Purpose / when: When starting, the app cannot connect to the server, for example because the phone has no internet. The app then offers a single button, Repeat.

    1. Start the app. If the phone has no internet or the server does not respond, after the splash screen a panel appears with a warning icon, the error text and the Repeat button. → The text is, for example, "Could not download data from the server" or "Check your internet connection.". Sometimes it is a message straight from the server.
    2. Connect the phone to the internet: turn on Wi-Fi or mobile data, or turn off airplane mode. → The phone is ready to load the data.
    3. Tap Repeat. → The panel closes and the initial loading runs again. If it succeeds, the launch continues as usual and Home opens; otherwise the panel appears again and you can try again.

Result: The app loads and opens Home as soon as a connection is available.

Caution: Do not close the panel by tapping outside it or by pulling it down. Only the logo is then left on the screen, the Repeat button is no longer available and you can continue only after you quit the app and start it again.

Tip: You will find the meaning of the messages in the Troubleshooting chapter: "Check your internet connection." and "Could not download data from the server".

Finding your way around the app

The app has no side menu. You find everything in the bottom bar and in the screens that open from it. Below are the basic controls that apply throughout the app.

    The bottom bar and tabs

Purpose / when: The bottom bar is the main control of the app. Its five tabs take you to everything the app offers.

    1. At the bottom of the screen is a bar with the tabs Home, Sensors, Info channel, Info and Profile. The active tab is highlighted in green. → The meaning of the tabs is in the list below.
    2. Tap another tab. → Its content appears. Each tab remembers where you left off, so you return to unfinished work.
    3. Tap the tab that is currently open again. → Any open detail, for example a sensor detail, closes and you return to the tab's start screen. Its content also scrolls smoothly all the way to the top. On the Info tab the tiles are additionally reloaded.
    Home
The start tab. Favorite sensors, the latest message from your municipality and the Map of public sensors button.
    Sensors
All your sensors, sensors shared with you and adding new sensors.
    Info channel
Messages from your municipality and other sources of information that you follow.
    Info
Tiles of municipal services, for example events, traffic, departures from your stop, outages or the map of places. What is on offer depends on what your municipality has turned on.
    Profile
Personal details, notification settings, appearance of the app, logout and the version number.

Result: With one tap you switch between the main parts of the app; tapping again takes you back to the start of the tab.

Tip: Tapping the active tab is the fastest way from a deeply opened detail back to the list.

Note: The app is locked to portrait; only the image viewer and the camera preview of sensors that have a camera rotate to landscape. You cannot move between tabs by swiping sideways; you always have to tap the bar. Some screens (the map of public sensors, the image viewer, forms and a detail opened from a notification) cover the bar; close them with the back arrow or the cross, see Going back and closing windows.

The bottom bar with five tabs

Red numbers (badges) on the tabs

Purpose / when: A red number on a tab tells you that something is waiting for you, without you having to open the tab.

    1. Look at the Sensors tab. → A red circle with a number shows how many sensor sharing invitations you have not yet dealt with. You accept or decline an invitation on the Sensors tab, see Accept a sharing invitation and Decline an invitation. Once you have dealt with all invitations and the data is refreshed, the badge disappears.
    2. Look at the Info channel tab. → A red circle with a number shows how many messages from your main info channel (your municipality) you have not seen yet. It disappears as soon as you open the Info channel tab or any message.
    3. Nothing waiting to be dealt with? → Then no number is shown on the tab. The Home, Info and Profile tabs never have a badge.

Result: At a glance you know whether you have a pending invitation or a new municipality message.

Tip: The numbers are recalculated on the automatic data refresh (every 5 minutes), when you return to the app, after you tap a notification, after you deal with an invitation and after you open a message. Pulling down on Home or in Sensors loads the data, but the number on the bar may update only at the next automatic refresh.

Note: The badge on the Info channel tab counts only messages from your main info channel. After you log in, only messages published from that moment on count as new.

The bottom bar of the app with a red badge with the number 1 on the Sensors tab
A badge with a number on the Sensors tab (it looks the same on the Info channel tab)

Purpose / when: You want to go back a step or close a form you have started.

    1. Tap the arrow at the top left of the screen header. On Android you can also use the system Back button or gesture, on iPhone swipe from the left edge of the screen. → You return to the previous screen in the same tab. The map has its own back arrow that closes the map.
    2. Close forms that slide up from the bottom over the whole screen (for example Create new sensor or Delete account) with the cross at the top right. → The form closes and you return to the main screen. Anything you did not save in it is discarded. Some forms (for example when adding another source of information) also have a back arrow at the top left on the second step, which takes you back a step.
    3. On a tab's start screen, press Back on Android. → The app closes and you return to the phone's home screen. The app does not ask for confirmation and does not first go back to Home.

Result: You return to the previous screen, or you close a form without saving.

Tip: From a deeply opened detail you can quickly return by tapping the active tab in the bottom bar, see The bottom bar and tabs.

Note: In a sensor detail with unsaved changes, going back with the arrow at the top left shows the question "You have unsaved changes. Save them?" with the buttons Cancel and Done, see The unsaved changes question. The system Back and swiping from the screen edge do not show this question and the unsaved changes are discarded. The "Login recovery" screen and the screen for changed terms have no way back; you continue only by logging in or by agreeing, respectively; on the "Login recovery" screen you can also use the Logout button.

    Bottom panels (menus and confirmations)

Purpose / when: Choices, confirmations and error messages appear in the app as a panel that slides up from the bottom over the current screen. This description applies to all such panels.

    1. The panel slides up from the bottom, for example when you choose the appearance or when you log out. Select an item or tap a button. → The panel closes and the app carries out your choice.
    2. To close the panel without choosing, tap Close, Cancel or OK, tap the dimmed area above the panel, pull the panel down with your finger, or on Android use the system Back. → The panel disappears and nothing changes.
    3. For actions that save or verify something on the server (for example logging in, creating a sensor or deleting an account), a spinning wheel appears over the whole screen. → The screen does not respond to taps until the wheel disappears. Wait; it is usually only a moment. If the server does not respond, an error panel appears.
    Choice from options
A list of options and the Close button. Tap an item to select it and the panel closes at once. Example: on the Profile tab, the Appearance row offers Light, Dark and System. The selected value is not highlighted in the list.
    Confirmation
A heading, a question and two buttons side by side: Cancel on the left, the confirmation of the action on the right (depending on the action, for example OK, Deactivate, Send or Delete sensor). Example: when you log out, "Logout" and "Do you really want to log out?" appear. Tapping the confirmation closes the panel and carries out the action.
    Error message
A warning icon, the error text and the OK button, which closes the panel. For errors that can be retried, there is a Repeat button next to it. For an error when the app starts, only Repeat is available, see Starting without a connection.
    Info panel
A heading, an explanatory text and the Close button, for example the help for a sensor quantity.
List of errors in a form
When a form cannot be submitted, the panel lists what needs to be fixed and offers the OK button. Tapping the red error icon next to a field shows the message for that field only.

Result: You choose an option, confirm an action, or close the panel with no change.

Caution: The confirmation button is always green, even for irreversible actions such as deleting. The color therefore tells you nothing about how dangerous the action is; always read the text of the question.

Tip: The panel with a list of form errors is also described in the Troubleshooting chapter, see Panel with a list of form errors.

    Refresh data by pulling down

Purpose / when: You want the latest data on the screen right away, without waiting for the automatic refresh.

    1. At the start of the content (right at the top), drag your finger down. → A header with a pull instruction appears at the top. Once you pull far enough, the header shows "Release to refresh".
    2. Lift your finger. → The header shows "Data refreshing" and the app downloads the latest data.
    3. Wait for it to finish. → The header shows "Refresh complete" and the content is redrawn with the new data.
    4. If the data could not be loaded, on Home, in Sensors and in the Info channel an error panel appears with a description of the problem and the OK button. → For example "Could not download data from the server" or "Check your internet connection.". Check your connection and repeat the refresh.
    Pull down to refresh
The default header while you pull. Until you pull far enough, the refresh does not start when you lift your finger.
    Release to refresh
You have pulled the content far enough; when you lift your finger, refreshing starts.
    Data refreshing
The app is downloading the latest data right now.
    Refresh complete
The download has finished and the content is up to date. On a network error this message may also appear; the error panel is then what matters.

Result: The screen shows up-to-date data.

Note: Pull-to-refresh works on the Home, Sensors, Info channel, Info and Profile tabs, and also in a sensor detail, in the lists of events, warnings and traffic information, in My stop, in a connection detail and in CEZ outages. Forms and maps do not have it. On other screens the error panel may not appear; if you think the data has not refreshed, check your connection and repeat the refresh.

Tip: You can pull only from the very start of the content. If the content is scrolled down, first scroll back to its start with your finger. The data also refreshes by itself, see Automatic refresh and background work.

    App language

Purpose / when: You want to know which language the app speaks and where to change it.

    1. The language of the app's texts follows your phone's language setting. The app supports Czech, English and Polish. → If your phone is set to another language, the app is shown in English. The app also tells the server your phone's language, so some texts from the server (for example error messages) may arrive in the same language.
    2. To change the app's language, change the language in your phone's settings. → You cannot switch the language within the app itself.
    3. The Notification language row on the Profile tab sets only the language of the emails, SMS messages and notifications the app sends you. → The app's texts do not change, see Notification language.

Result: You know that the phone determines the app's language and that the notification language is set separately.

Tip: If you see the app in a different language than you expect, check the language in your phone's settings, see The app is in a different language.

    Automatic refresh and background work

Purpose / when: You find out when the app loads new data by itself, so you do not have to refresh manually.

    1. Keep the app open. → The data refreshes automatically every 5 minutes: sensor values, states, municipality messages and the badges on the tabs.
    2. Switch to another app and then return to Sencito. → The app refreshes the data immediately and redraws the screen. While the app is in the background, automatic refresh is paused. If the Profile tab is open, the current message delivery settings are also loaded. The same happens each time you switch to the Profile tab.
    3. Tap a notification. → The app first refreshes the data and only then opens the related content, see What tapping a notification opens. The mere arrival of a notification does not refresh the data.
    4. If your login expires, the app tries to renew it by itself. → When that is not possible, the "Login recovery" screen appears, see Log in again after expiry. After a successful login the app finishes the action you started.

Result: The app shows up-to-date data without manual intervention.

Note: If an automatic refresh fails, the app does not tell you and the previously loaded data stays displayed. The app also does not show that you are offline. You can request the latest data by pulling down, see Refresh data by pulling down.

    What tapping a notification opens

Purpose / when: Notifications from the app take you straight to the related content when you tap them, for example a message from your municipality or the sensor where something is happening.

    1. A notification arrives. → If the app is open, a bubble with a heading, a text and a Cancel button appears at the top. It disappears by itself after 4 seconds. If the app is not open, the phone shows the notification in its notification area.
    2. Tap the bubble or the notification in the phone's notification area. → The app first refreshes the data and then opens the related content (see the list below).
    3. To close the bubble without taking action, tap Cancel or swipe it away up or down. → The bubble disappears and nothing else happens.
    Municipality message
The Info channel tab opens, with the message detail over the whole screen. The back arrow takes you back to the Info channel.
    Sensor alert
The Sensors tab opens, with the detail of the sensor that triggered the alert.
    New sharing
The Sensors tab opens on the Shared segment, where you accept or decline the invitation, see Accept a sharing invitation.
    Public sensor
The Home tab opens with the map of public sensors and the card of the given sensor open.
    Other notification
The app just refreshes the data and you stay on the screen where you were.

Result: One tap takes you straight to the content the notification is about.

Note: A notification opens only for a logged-in user. If the content has meanwhile disappeared, for example the message was deleted or you no longer have the sensor shared, only the relevant tab opens, without a detail. When the app is closed, it first starts up and only then opens the target of the notification. Without notifications allowed on the phone, no notifications arrive, see Allow notifications.

    Login and registration

You log in to the Sencito app with your email and password or with a Google or Apple account; if you do not have an account yet, you register. A new account with a password has to be verified by email, and every citizen must choose the municipality (or organization) whose news they want to receive. This chapter also covers a forgotten password, agreeing to changed terms, and login recovery.

The Login / Register start screen

After you start the app for the first time and after every logout, you see the Login / Register screen. You cannot use the app without logging in; there is no mode without an account. You continue either with your email or with the Google or Apple button. Once you are logged in, the app remembers your login (it does not store your password on the phone): the next time you start it, it logs you in by itself until you log out, see Log out.

    Continue with email

Purpose / when: By entering your email, the app finds out whether you already have a Sencito account (then it sends you to login) or not (then it sends you to registration). This is the first step of every login with email.

    1. On the Login / Register screen, tap the "Enter your e-mail" field and type your email, for example john.smith@example.com. → The keyboard for typing an email opens. While the field is active and contains text, a clear icon appears next to it; tap it to empty the field.
    2. Tap Next. → A loading spinner appears for a moment while the app finds out whether it knows the email. Then one of these opens:
      • Login, if the email already has an account. The email is pre-filled and the cursor is straight in the password field, see Log in with email and password.
      • Register, if the email is new. The email is pre-filled, see Register.
    3. If you do not want to type an email, use the Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple button, see Sign in with Google or Apple. → Both buttons are above the email field, separated by the text "or continue with email".
    Enter your e-mail
Your email. Required field; before sending, the app only checks that it is not empty and does not check whether the email is written correctly. If the field is empty, a panel appears with the message "Email is a required field" and an OK button. After you close it, a red triangle appears in the field; tap it to show the message again. A municipality administrator enters their login name here instead of an email (without the @ sign), see Log in as an administrator.

Result: The Login screen opens (the account exists) or the Register screen opens (a new email).

Tip: Did Register open although you already have an account? You probably made a typo in the email. Tap the back arrow at the top left, correct the email (it stayed filled in the field) and tap Next again.

Tip: The Done key on the keyboard does not trigger Next; it only closes the keyboard. Tap Next directly.

Note: If the connection drops, a panel with "Communication with server failled." and an OK button appears. Check your internet connection and try again. If the spinner appears for a moment after you tap Next and then nothing happens, try again in a little while.

Note: If you type text without an @ sign into the field (the login name of a municipality administrator), the app does not look the account up and opens the Login screen straight away.

Sign in with Google or Apple

Purpose / when: Logging in to Sencito without a password of its own. You use the account you already have with Google or Apple. It is handy when you do not want to remember another password. You need an internet connection.

    1. On the Login / Register screen, tap Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. → A browser window opens with the login of the chosen service. The app always asks for a fresh login and does not rely on an earlier login in the browser.
    2. In the browser window, log in and allow sharing your email (and possibly your basic profile). → The browser returns to the app by itself.
    3. Wait a moment until the loading spinner disappears. → The app verifies the login and carries on depending on whether you already have a Sencito account:
      • You are logging in for the first time: the account is created automatically (the verification email is not used for this kind of login) and the mandatory choice of your main info channel opens, see Choose your municipality.
      • You already have an account: if it does not have a main info channel yet, the app asks for it first. Then, after you confirm any changed terms if necessary (see Confirm the new terms), Home opens.

Result: You are logged in and, once you have chosen your main info channel, you see Home.

Caution: Your first login with the Google or Apple button automatically creates a new Sencito account. With this kind of login, agreement to the terms is not required right away; you confirm it by ticking "I agree with the terms of service" when you choose your main info channel.

Note: If you close the browser window without finishing the login (or the login in the browser fails), you return to the start screen without any message and nothing changes. Tap the button again.

Tip: If the Sencito login cannot be completed after you return from the browser, a panel with "Sign-in failed. Please try again." and an OK button appears. Check your internet connection and try again. If Sencito rejects the login, the panel contains an explanatory text from the service.

Tip: An account created through Google or Apple has no password. So always log in with the same button, not with email and password. Do not use "Have you forgotten your password?" for such an account.

    Logging in with a password

If you have an account with a password, you log in on the Login screen. It opens after you enter your email on the start screen.

Log in with email and password

Purpose / when: The usual login: you have a Sencito account with an email and a password and want to get into the app.

    1. On the start screen, enter your email and tap Next, see Continue with email. → The Login screen opens. The email is pre-filled in it (you can still correct it here), the cursor is straight in the password field and the keyboard is open.
    2. Type your password into the "Enter password" field. → The characters are hidden. You can show them with the eye icon on the right, see Show or hide the password.
    3. Tap Login (or Done on the keyboard). → A loading spinner appears and the app loads your data. Then one of these opens:
      • the choice of your main info channel, if the account does not have one yet, see Choose your municipality;
      • the screen asking for your agreement, if the terms have changed, see Confirm the new terms;
      • otherwise straight to Home.
    4. If the account exists but the email has not been verified yet, a screen titled "Verify your e-mail" opens instead of Home, see Verify your email.
    Enter your e-mail
The account's email, pre-filled from the start screen; you can change it. Required field; if it is empty, the message is "Email is a required field".
    Enter password
The account's password. Required field; if it is empty, the message is "Password is a required field". The field is active as soon as the screen opens.

Result: You are logged in and see Home (after choosing your main info channel and confirming the terms, if necessary).

Tip: If both fields are empty, the error panel lists both messages at once and you close it with the OK button.

Tip: With a wrong password (or an account that does not exist), a panel appears with a message from the Sencito service and an OK button. The password stays in the field, so you only have to correct it (check for typos with the eye icon). If you do not know your password, tap Have you forgotten your password?, see Forgotten password.

Tip: If the connection drops, "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. Repeat sends the login again with what is in the fields.

Tip: If you log in successfully but the app then fails to download the data, a panel appears with a message (for example "Check your internet connection." or "Could not download data from the server") and a single Repeat button. Check your connection and tap Repeat, see Starting the app without a connection.

Note: Municipality administrators log in with a login name without an @ sign, see Log in as an administrator. If you enter a valid email, the app always logs you in as a citizen.

Tip: The password manager on your phone can fill in the email and password automatically. The back arrow at the top left returns you to the start screen, and the email you typed stays there.

Tip: When you log in for the first time, after Home opens the phone may ask whether you allow the app to send notifications, see Allow notifications.

Login: email, password, Login and Have you forgotten your password?

    Show or hide the password

Purpose / when: You check whether you typed the password correctly, both before logging in and when you come up with a new password. The eye icon is in the password field on the Login, Register and Login recovery screens.

    1. In the password field, tap the eye icon on the right. → The password is shown in readable form and the icon changes to a crossed-out eye. The typed text and the other fields stay unchanged.
    2. Tap the icon again. → The password is hidden again.

Result: The password is shown or hidden, depending on how many times you tapped the eye.

Tip: A shown password can also be read by people around you. Look around before showing it and preferably hide the password again after checking.

Tip: If the form check finds an error in the field, a red triangle is shown in place of the eye (tap it to read the message). As soon as you tap into the field again, the eye returns.

    Forgotten password

Purpose / when: You do not remember your password. Sencito sends a link to your email, through which you set a new password. The new password is set on a web page, not in the app.

    1. On the Login screen, check that the email field contains the correct address (the link will be sent to it). Then tap the green Have you forgotten your password? link below the Login button. → If the email field is empty, a panel with "E-mail is required." and an OK button appears; fill in the email and tap again. Otherwise a prompt appears.
    2. Read the prompt "Password change" with the text "We will send you a link on your e-mail, which you will use to change password in app." and the Cancel and Send buttons. → The Cancel button closes the prompt and nothing is sent.
    3. Tap Send. → The prompt closes, the link is sent and a panel appears with "Link sent", the text "Link sent." and a Close button.
    4. Open the email from Sencito, tap the link and set a new password on the web page. → Then log in to the app with the new password.
    Enter your e-mail
The email is taken from the field on the Login screen; you can correct it beforehand. The field must not be empty, otherwise the message "E-mail is required." appears. Whether the address is written correctly is not checked.

Result: A link for setting a new password arrives at the email you entered.

Caution: Tapping Send really sends the email. Use the link only yourself and do not forward it to anyone.

Tip: The email did not arrive? Wait a few minutes and check your spam (junk mail) folder. Also check that you typed the email correctly.

Tip: If a panel with "Communication with server failled." and an OK button appears, sending failed. The cause may be a lost connection, but also an email that is not registered with Sencito. Check your connection and the spelling of the email and try again. If Sencito rejects the sending, the panel contains an explanatory text from the service.

Note: Accounts created through Google or Apple have no password, so do not use this function for them. You will find the same prompt in Profile under the Change password button, see Change password.

    Registering a new account

If you do not have a Sencito account, after you enter a new email the app sends you to the Register screen. Verifying your email and choosing a municipality follow.

    Register

Purpose / when: Creating a new citizen account with an email and a password. You cannot use the app without an account.

    1. On the start screen, enter an email that has no account yet and tap Next. → The Register screen opens. The terms load for a moment (loading spinner). At the top is the text "Registration is required before continuing" and the explanation "Create a user account and monitor clean air, river levels or even speed cameras in your community."
    2. Check the email in the "Enter your e-mail" field and correct it if necessary.
    3. Type a new password into the "Enter password" field: at least 8 characters, including a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter and a digit. → The characters are hidden; show them with the eye icon, see Show or hide the password.
    4. Tick "I agree with the terms of service". Tap the box on the left (tapping the text itself does not tick it). → The box is ticked. Below it is the Terms of service row with an arrow; tap it to read the terms, see Read the terms of service. The data you entered is kept.
    5. Tap Register. → If everything is in order, a loading spinner appears and the account is created. If something is missing or invalid, a panel pops up with a list of all the errors at once and an OK button. (Do you not want to finish registering? The back arrow at the top left returns you to the start screen.)
    6. After the account is created, the app opens the "Verify your e-mail" screen. → A verification link arrives at your email, see Verify your email. (If your account does not require verification, you are logged in straight away and carry on with the choice of your main info channel, see Choose your municipality.)
    Enter your e-mail
The email of the new account, pre-filled from the start screen; you can edit it. Required field; if it is empty, the message is "Email is a required field". An invalid or already used email is rejected only by Sencito: a panel appears with a message from the service and an OK button.
    Enter password
The new password. At least 8 characters, of which at least one lowercase letter (a–z), one uppercase letter (A–Z) and one digit; other characters, including special ones, are allowed. Empty field: "Password is a required field". Weak password: "The password must contain a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number, and must be at least 8 characters long." If the field is empty, both messages are shown at once.
I agree with the terms of service
A checkbox, not ticked at first. It must be ticked for registration, otherwise the message "You must agree to the terms and conditions" appears.

Result: The account is created and waits for your email to be verified.

Caution: Tapping Register creates a real account and sends a verification email. Remember the password or save it in a password manager. If you forget it, see Forgotten password.

Tip: After you close the error panel, a red triangle appears at the faulty field. Tap it to read the message for that field again.

Tip: Lowercase and uppercase letters in the password are counted without accents (a–z, A–Z). So the password must contain at least one letter without accents in both lowercase and uppercase form. You may use accented letters in addition.

Tip: If nothing happens after you tap Register, the terms probably did not load (for example because of a weak connection). Go back with the arrow, check your connection and open the screen again. When it opens, a panel with a Repeat button may also pop up, which repeats the loading.

Note: If the connection drops, "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. By registering you agree only to the terms of service; you confirm the terms of your municipality only when you choose your main info channel.

    Read the terms of service

Purpose / when: Before you agree, you can read the wording of the terms. You will find the row with the terms during registration, when choosing a municipality and on the screen for a change of terms.

    1. Tap the row with the terms (anywhere in the row or on the arrow on the right). Depending on the screen, it is called:
      • Terms of service at registration, when choosing a municipality and when the terms of service of your municipality change;
      • General terms of service when the general terms change.
→ A screen with a heading and the document opens. A progress indicator is shown while it loads.
    2. Scroll the document with your finger. If the document is a PDF, you can zoom in with two fingers.
    3. Tap the back arrow at the top left. → You return to the screen where you were, and everything you typed into it is kept.

Result: You have read the wording of the terms; it does not change anything about ticking your agreement.

Tip: The document is loaded from the internet, so you need a connection. If nothing opens after you tap the row, the terms are still loading; wait a moment and tap again.

Note: You will also find the terms of service later in Profile, see Terms of service.

Note: The names of the documents in the app differ depending on the screen. You confirm the terms common to all users at registration as Terms of service, but when they change later they are called General terms of service. You confirm the terms of your municipality when choosing a municipality and also when they change later as Terms of service.

    Verify your email

Purpose / when: After registration you must confirm that the email belongs to you. This completes the registration. The same screen also opens when you log in with an account whose email has not been verified yet.

    1. After registration, the Register screen appears with the heading "Verify your e-mail" and the text "You must verify your email to continue." Below it you see "To the address", your address and the sentence "We've sent you a verification link. Click this link to verify your email." At the bottom are the I verified my email and Resend buttons. The back arrow at the top left returns you to the previous screen (after registration, the start screen), but the account stays created and waits for verification.
    2. Open the email from Sencito and tap the verification link. → A browser opens and Sencito marks your email as verified.
    3. Return to the app and tap I verified my email. → A loading spinner appears, the app logs you in with the email and password you entered (you do not enter them again) and the mandatory choice of your main info channel opens, see Choose your municipality. If you have already chosen your main info channel (you got here by logging in), Home opens straight away.
    4. The email did not arrive? Check your spam folder and tap the green Resend link. → A new verification email is sent. The app does not announce this in any way; the email simply arrives in your mailbox shortly.

Result: The email is verified, you are logged in and you carry on with the choice of your main info channel.

Tip: If you tap I verified my email but have not confirmed the link yet, a panel appears with a message from the Sencito service and an OK button. You stay on the same screen: confirm the link in the email and tap the button again.

Tip: Did you close the app before you verified the email? Start it again, enter your email and tap Next, then enter your password and tap Login. The app returns you to this screen.

Note: If sending fails, a panel appears with a message; if the connection is lost, it appears with the short text "Chyba" (this text is hard-coded in the app and is not translated). Check your connection and try again. If the connection is lost after you tap I verified my email, "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. Accounts created through Google or Apple are not verified, see Sign in with Google or Apple.

Choosing your main info channel (municipality)

Your main info channel is the municipality, city or organization whose news and alerts you will receive (in the app it is also called a "source of information"). A citizen must choose it before getting into the app. Municipality administrators do not see this step.

Choose your municipality (main info channel)

Purpose / when: A mandatory step for a new account. It appears after email verification, after the first login with Google or Apple, and every time you log in or start the app with an account that does not have a main info channel yet. The chosen municipality, the selected public groups and your agreement to the terms are saved.

    1. On the Your info channel screen, read the instruction "Choose your source of information. Enter the name of the municipality, city or organization you are interested in. Based on your selection, you will receive information about the latest news." Tap the search field with the magnifying glass and type at least 3 characters of the name. → About half a second after you stop typing, a list of the sources found appears below the field. With fewer than three characters, the list is empty.
    2. Tap the row of the municipality found. → A second Your info channel screen opens with the name of the chosen municipality and the caption "This will be your main info channel". The municipality's terms load for a moment (loading spinner).
    3. Under the heading "Information from public groups:", select the topics you are interested in (optional). → All of them are ticked after loading; tap a row to untick it or tick it again. The list is shown only if the municipality offers any public groups.
    4. If you like, tap the Terms of service row and read the terms, see Read the terms of service. You return with the back arrow.
    5. Tick "I agree with the terms of service" (tap the box on the left) and tap Done. → Your choice is saved (loading spinner) and Home opens, see What is on Home.
    Search field (magnifying glass)
The name of a municipality, city or organization. The field has no label; it is the only field on the screen. The search starts from 3 characters, shortly after you stop typing. If there is text in the field, a clear icon appears next to it.
    Information from public groups:
A list of the public groups (topics) of the chosen municipality. All of them are ticked at first, and you do not have to untick any. The field is optional.
I agree with the terms of service
A checkbox, not ticked at first. Agreement is mandatory. If it is not ticked, the message "You must agree to the terms and conditions" with an OK button appears after you tap Done.

Result: Your main info channel is set and Home opens with the news of your municipality.

Caution: This step is mandatory. Without choosing a municipality and agreeing to the terms, you cannot get into the app. For what happens when you leave the selection, see Leave the municipality selection without choosing.

Tip: Nothing found? The app shows no message and the list stays empty. Try a different or shorter form of the name.

Tip: If saving fails, a panel appears with a message, for example "Communication with server failled." with an OK button. Check your connection and tap Done again. If the terms cannot be loaded, the panel also offers a Repeat button.

Note: You can change the public groups you are interested in and your main info channel later in Profile, see Information from public groups and Change the main info channel (municipality). The notification language is set to the language of the app when you save; you change it in Profile, see Notification language.

Leave the municipality selection without choosing

Purpose / when: You change your mind or do not feel like choosing a municipality right now. You cannot enter the app without a main info channel.

    1. Tap the back arrow at the top left (or use the system Back button). → You return to the Login / Register start screen. If you got to the selection by logging in, the app logs you out in the process.
    2. To continue, log in again, see Log in with email and password. → The municipality selection is shown again.

Result: You are on the start screen without access to the app; the municipality selection awaits you the next time you log in.

Note: After registration, the back arrow is not shown on the first step of the selection. If you use the system Back button, you also return to the start screen and the municipality selection awaits you the next time you log in or start the app.

Tip: On the second selection screen (after you tap a municipality), the back arrow returns you only to the search and you are not logged out. This way you can choose a different municipality.

    Change of terms

If the terms of use of the service change, you must confirm the new wording. The screen is shown automatically after you start the app or log in.

    Confirm the new terms

Purpose / when: Since your last agreement, the general terms or the terms of service of your municipality have changed. Until you confirm them, you cannot use the app.

    1. After you start the app or log in, one of these screens is shown instead of Home:
      • Change in general terms of service:, that is, the terms common to all Sencito users;
      • Change in terms of service:, that is, the terms of your main info channel (municipality). Under the heading is the name of the municipality with the caption "Main info channel".
→ The screen has no back arrow. It has a checkbox, below it a row with the terms and at the bottom the Done button.
    2. Tap the row with the terms (General terms of service or Terms of service, respectively) to read the new wording, see Read the terms of service. You return with the back arrow.
    3. Tick "I agree with the general terms of service" or "I agree with the terms of service", respectively (tap the box on the left), and tap Done. → A loading spinner appears and your agreement is saved. If a second document is still waiting, it is shown right after the first one (first the general terms, then the terms of service of the municipality). After you confirm the last one, Home opens.
I agree with the general terms of service / I agree with the terms of service
A checkbox, not ticked at first. Agreement is mandatory. If it is not ticked, the message "You must agree to the terms and conditions" with an OK button appears after you tap Done.

Result: Your agreement is saved with your account and the app carries on to Home.

Caution: You cannot decline the agreement. The system Back button and the Back gesture do not work, and without agreement the app does not let you go further. If you do not agree with the new wording, you cannot keep using the app.

Tip: If saving your agreement takes unusually long (for example because of a lost connection), close the app, check your connection and start it again. The screen is shown again.

Note: The screen is shown only if you have not yet confirmed the new wording. The other data of your account does not change by confirming. This screen is not shown after registration and email verification.

    Login recovery

Your login may expire or be invalidated. The app first tries to renew it by itself. If that fails, it asks you to log in again.

    Log in again after expiry

Purpose / when: The screen opens by itself, when the app starts or in the middle of your work, when your login has expired and could not be renewed automatically. You cannot open it manually.

    1. Read the Login recovery screen: "We were not able to log you in" and "Please re-enter your password or try signing in with a different account." → The email of your account is pre-filled and cannot be changed. The screen has no back arrow.
    2. Type your password into the "Enter password" field and tap Login (or Done on the keyboard). → A loading spinner appears. After a successful login the screen closes and whatever you were doing continues, or the app starts.
    3. Do you have a Google or Apple account, or do you want to use a different account? Tap the green Logout link. → The app logs you out and returns you to the start screen (with a Google or Apple account, a browser window may briefly open during logout). Log in again there; for Google and Apple accounts, with the Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple buttons.
    Enter your e-mail
The email of your account. Read-only; it cannot be edited.
    Enter password
The account's password. Required field; if it is empty, the message is "Password is a required field". Show the password with the eye icon, see Show or hide the password.

Result: Your login is renewed and you can carry on working, or you are logged out and return to the start screen.

Caution: You cannot leave this screen with the Back button. The only ways out are Login and Logout.

Tip: With a wrong password, a panel appears with a message from the Sencito service and an OK button; if the connection is lost, "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons.

Tip: Did you forget your password? There is no password-recovery link on this screen. Tap Logout, enter your email on the start screen and use Have you forgotten your password?, see Forgotten password.

Note: Accounts created through Google or Apple have no password; only Logout and a new login with the corresponding button will help them.

    Home

Home is the app's start tab. It shows your favourite sensors (your own and shared ones), the latest news article from your municipality, and a button that opens the map of public sensors. You can switch security sensors on or off right from it.

    The Home screen

Home consists of groups of sensor tiles and a block for your municipality. Below you will find the screen layout, the meaning of the information on a tile, and all the actions you can perform from Home.

    What is on Home

Purpose / when: Open Home by tapping the first tab, Home, in the bottom bar; it is also shown when you start the app. On a single screen you see what you follow most often.

    1. At the top is the large heading Home and below it the My sensors group with tiles of the sensors you marked with a star as favourites. The tiles are arranged in three columns, and your own sensors are sorted by the name of their sensor group. → The group is shown only if you have at least one favourite sensor of your own.
    2. Below it is the news block of your municipality (the main source of information): the name of the info channel (for example SenCity), the All articles link, and a card with the latest news article. Next come the groups of sensors that other users share with you; the group heading is the name of the person sharing. → The municipality block is shown only if you have a news source available. Each person sharing has their own group, which is shown only if at least one of their sensors is among your favourites.
    3. At the very bottom is the green Map of public sensors button. → The button opens the map of public sensors, see Open the map of public sensors.
    4. Home shows only favourite sensors; you will find all the others in the Sensors tab. → Until you have a favourite sensor, the My sensors group is missing and Home shows only the municipality article and the map button.

Result: On a single screen you see the current values of your favourite sensors and the latest municipality article, and you have the map of public sensors at hand.

Tip: You add a sensor to Home with a star. In the Sensors tab, tap the star on the right of the sensor, or the star in the top right of the sensor detail (see Mark a sensor as favourite and Add to favourites from the detail). Tap the star again to remove the sensor from Home. When you sign in with an account for the first time, some sensors may be added to your favourites automatically.

Tip: Favourite sensors are stored only on your phone. On another phone you have to mark them again, see Favourite sensors are missing on a new phone.

Tip: Refresh Home by pulling down from the top edge with your finger. A prompt to pull appears at the top (Pull down to refresh), then Release to refresh once you pass the threshold, Data refreshing while the data downloads, and finally Refresh complete. The values also refresh on their own: when you return to the app and every 5 minutes while the app is open. See also Refresh data by pulling down.

Note: If the refresh fails, a panel with an error and an OK button appears, for example "Check your internet connection.", "Could not download data from the server" or "Communication with server failled." The information on Home is not updated in that case. Refresh complete may also briefly appear in the header; what matters is the error panel. Check your internet connection and try again.

Tip: If you tap the Home tab in the bottom bar while it is already open, the content scrolls back to the top, and any open sensor or article detail is closed.

Note: A municipality administrator who signs in with an administrator account sees Home differently: without the municipality block and without the public sensor map button. If they have no favourite sensor, the hint Here you will see your favorite sensors appears with the text "To set your favorite sensors, click the star icon in the sensor list." See Administrator's Home.

    Read a sensor tile

Purpose / when: Each favourite sensor is one tile on Home. From it you can tell the sensor type, its current value and its status without opening the detail.

    1. Look at the tile. In the top left is the sensor type icon. Below it is the large main value (for example the temperature), which may be coloured according to the kind of measurement, with the unit on the right. Further down is the name of the group the sensor belongs to (ending with a colon) and below it the sensor name. → A value that is too long is shrunk to fit; a long name is shortened with an ellipsis.
    2. In the top right is a small coloured status dot. → The colour matches the sensor status: usually green means everything is fine, orange a warning, red a fault or an alarm, and grey an unknown status.
    3. Notice a greyed-out tile. → A greyed-out tile means the sensor is not sending data or its status is unknown (an inactive sensor). In the app's dark mode, an inactive tile has a darker, greenish background.
    4. Security sensors also have a security switch without a label in the top right, next to the status dot. → The switch shows whether monitoring is on. For how to use it, see the operations Switch on a sensor's security and Switch off a sensor's security.
    5. During an active alarm, the sensor icon turns red and starts swinging. → The red swinging icon warns you that the sensor is reporting an alarm.

Result: From a single tile you can tell what kind of sensor it is, what its current value is, whether it is fine, whether it is active and whether it is reporting an alarm.

Note: Only sensors that support security have the security switch. Ordinary measuring sensors (temperature, humidity, consumption) do not.

Note: For sensors that report only an alarm yes/no, the tile shows an empty space instead of a value; you recognise an alarm by the red swinging icon.

Note: Problem states other than "inactive" (for example a warning or an alarm) do not grey out the tile. They show only in the colour of the status dot.

Tip: The tile responds to a tap. For detailed values, charts and sensor settings, see its detail: Open the sensor detail.

    Collapse or expand a group

Purpose / when: If you have many tiles on Home, you can collapse the groups you do not need right now and make Home shorter.

    1. Tap the group heading (My sensors or the name of the user who shares sensors with you) anywhere on the row, or the triangle icon on the right. → The group collapses, the tiles disappear, the triangle flips from pointing up to pointing down and a thin grey line appears below the heading.
    2. Tap the heading or the triangle again to expand the group. → The tiles are shown again and the triangle points up once more.

Result: Home is shortened or full again. You collapse and expand each group separately.

Tip: The app remembers the state of each group even if you close and reopen it. After you sign out it is forgotten, and the next time you sign in all groups are expanded.

Note: Collapsing only hides the tiles. The sensors stay marked as favourites and nothing is deleted.

    Open the sensor detail

Purpose / when: To see the details of a sensor, for example how its values develop over time, open its detail straight from Home.

    1. Tap the sensor tile, anywhere except the security switch. → The sensor detail opens. In the top left is a back arrow labelled HOME, and the bottom bar stays visible. For what you will find in the detail, see the chapter Sensor detail.
    2. To return from the detail, tap the back arrow in the top left, or use the system back button or gesture (on an iPhone, swipe from the left edge of the screen). → You return to Home.

Result: The detail of the selected sensor is open. After you go back, you are on Home again.

Tip: You can also quickly return from the detail by tapping the Home tab in the bottom bar.

Note: For sensors that another user shares with you, not all options may be available in the detail; editing and settings are reserved for the sensor's owner.

    Switch on a sensor's security

Purpose / when: For a security sensor, you can switch on monitoring straight from Home, without opening the detail.

    1. On a security sensor, move the switch on the tile to the on position. → A progress indicator briefly appears over the screen and security is switched on immediately, without a confirmation prompt.
    2. Wait for it to finish. → After a successful save, the data is refreshed and the switch stays on. If an error occurs, a panel with an error message and an OK button appears, for example "Communication with server failled.", and the security does not change.
    Security switch
A switch (without a label) on the tile of a security sensor. Positions: on (turquoise) or off (grey). Switching on takes effect immediately; switching off requires confirmation, see Switch off a sensor's security.

Result: The sensor is secured and the switch on the tile is on.

Caution: Switching on is saved immediately and without confirmation. A secured sensor starts monitoring and reports an alarm when it is triggered. Flip the switch only when you really mean to.

Tip: Security can also be controlled in the sensor detail, see Security in the detail.

Tip: If an error appears, check your internet connection, verify the current state of the switch on the tile (refresh Home by pulling down if needed) and repeat the action.

    Switch off a sensor's security

Purpose / when: To stop monitoring a security sensor, switch off its security right from the tile. The app always asks for confirmation before switching it off.

    1. Move the security switch on the tile to the off position. → Security is not switched off yet; the app shows a confirmation prompt.
    2. Read the panel that appears. → The heading is the sensor name, below it is the text "Please confirm deactivation of the security sensor. Are you sure you want to deactivate the security sensor?" and at the bottom are the Cancel and Deactivate buttons.
    3. Tap Deactivate to switch it off, or Cancel to keep the security on. → Deactivate: the panel closes, a progress indicator briefly appears, security is switched off and the switch moves to the off position. If an error occurs, a panel with an error message and an OK button appears and the security stays on. Cancel: the panel closes, nothing is sent and the security stays on.
    Cancel
Closes the panel without any change. Tapping outside the panel or dragging it down with your finger has the same effect.
    Deactivate
Confirms switching off the sensor's security.

Result: After you confirm, the sensor is no longer secured and the switch on the tile is off.

Caution: After security is switched off, the sensor stops monitoring and will not report a breach. Confirm switching off only if you are sure.

Tip: After you cancel, security stays on. You can check the current state by pulling Home down, which refreshes the data.

Note: Only switching security off requires confirmation; switching it on takes effect immediately, see Switch on a sensor's security.

    Municipality news on Home

Purpose / when: On Home you have the latest article from your municipality (the main source of information) at hand, without having to switch to another tab.

    1. Find the municipality block. It is below the My sensors group and before the groups of shared sensors. → On the left is the name of your municipality's info channel (for example SenCity), on the right the All articles link with an arrow. Below them is the card of the latest article: an image (if the article has one), a category icon, the title and a short introductory text (a few lines). In the card footer are the date in capital letters, for example "THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2026", and the SHARE button.
    2. Tap the card to open the article. Tap All articles (or the arrow on the right, or the name of the info channel) to see all the municipality's articles. → The card opens the article detail with a back arrow labelled HOME and the bottom bar. All articles switches to the Info channel tab with the list of articles.
    3. Tap SHARE in the card footer to send a link to the article. → The sharing menu of your phone opens. Choose the app you want to send the link with, or close the menu.

Result: You read the latest municipality article, go to all articles, or send the link to the article on.

Note: Home always shows only one article, the latest. Older articles are in the Info channel tab, see Read news articles.

Note: The SHARE button and the arrow on the right of the card are shown only for articles that have a web address. The image is visible only for articles that have one. Until the municipality has any article, Home shows only the info channel name with the All articles link.

Tip: Sharing and opening an article are described in detail in the operations Share an article and Open an article. For the indicator of new articles on the Info channel tab, see New articles and notifications.

Open the map of public sensors

Purpose / when: You can view public sensors in municipalities (for example river levels or weather measurements) on a map and add them to your sensors.

    1. Scroll Home all the way down and tap the green Map of public sensors button. → The map of public sensors opens full screen (without the bottom bar). For how to use the map, see the operation Browse the map of public sensors.
    2. Find a sensor on the map. → When zoomed out, the map shows only municipality crests; tap a crest to zoom in and the sensors appear. Sensors you already have are green, the others blue.
    3. Tap a sensor. → A panel with its information appears at the bottom (see View public sensor information). For a sensor you do not have yet, tap Select in the panel; Cancel closes the panel. For a sensor you already have, the panel says "This sensor is already added." and you close it with Cancel; tap the sensor name in the panel to open its detail.
    4. Finish adding in the form. → After you tap Select, the map closes and the Add public sensor form opens with the Sensor identifier field already filled in. Tap Add (the button is active only when the identifier is filled in). The procedure is described in the operation Add public sensor. After the form closes, the data in the app is refreshed.

Result: After you confirm the form, you will find the selected public sensor in the Sensors tab in the Shared section.

Tip: In the form you can choose the Mark as favourite option. The sensor then also appears on Home among the shared sensors.

Note: Merely opening the map changes nothing; the sensor is added only after you confirm the form. Close the map without selecting by using the back arrow in the top left. The map requires an internet connection. A municipality administrator signed in with an administrator account does not see the Map of public sensors button.

    Sensors

The Sensors tab is an overview of all the sensors you see in the app: your own, ones shared with you, and public ones. In it you will find the sensor map, adding a new sensor, and sharing sensors with other people.

    Sensor list

Sensors are divided into groups. At the top is the heading Sensors, to its right the Map button, and below them the switch My / Shared / My share. A municipality administrator does not see the switch, see Administrator's sensors and creating a sensor.

    Open the sensor list

Purpose / when: an overview of all your sensors by group.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab in the bottom bar. → The heading Sensors appears, to its right the Map button, and below them the switch My / Shared / My share. When the app starts, My is selected and below the switch is the subheading My sensors.
    2. Find the group you need. → Sensors are in group cards. When the app starts, the cards are collapsed; you expand them following Expand a sensor group.

Result: You see the list of your sensors divided into groups.

Note: The list has no filter, sorting or search. The order of groups and sensors is determined by the system and cannot be changed in the app.

Tip: The red number on the Sensors tab icon shows the number of pending sharing invitations (see Accept a sharing invitation).

Note: The data refresh by themselves every 5 minutes and when you return to the app. You can refresh them manually by pulling the list down (see Refresh data by pulling down).

Note: If you do not have any sensor yet, you will see only the subheading My sensors, the green Add new sensor card and the Sensors offer card.

    Sensor map

The map shows where your sensors are and what state they are in. It shows your own sensors, sensors someone shares with you, and public sensors you have added, but only those that have a location set.

    Show sensors on the map

Purpose / when: a quick overview of the location and state of all sensors on the map.

    1. In the Sensors tab, tap Map in the top right. → A spinner appears for a moment, then a full-screen map. The map zooms so that all sensors with a location are visible.
    2. Look at the pins. → The pin colour corresponds to the sensor state (usually green is OK, orange is a warning, red is a fault or alarm, grey is an unknown state). Inside the pin is the sensor type icon.
    3. Notice the circles with a number. → A circle is a group of nearby sensors, and the coloured segments in it show the states of these sensors. Tap the circle to zoom the map in. If a circle contains more than 99 sensors, it shows “+99”.
    4. Tap a pin. → The sensor detail opens. Use the arrow in the top left to return from the detail to the map.
    5. On the map, tap the arrow in the top left. → The map closes and you return to the list.

Result: You see the location and state of your sensors on the map.

Tip: A sensor is visible on the map only if it has a location set. You set the location when you add the sensor (see Set the sensor location) or later when editing (see Edit the name, group or location). If no sensor has a location, the map opens without pins.

Note: The map controls are described in Map controls. Sensors in one place are described in Several sensors in one place.

    Map controls

Purpose / when: moving, zooming and showing your own location. Applies to all maps in the app.

    1. Move the map by dragging with one finger. → The map moves with your finger. The map cannot be rotated.
    2. Zoom in by spreading two fingers apart and zoom out by pinching them together. You can also zoom in by double-tapping. → The map changes scale.
    3. Tap the button that shows your location, which is part of the map. → The map centres on your location.

Result: The map is in the view you need.

Note: The sensor map and the map for choosing a sensor location have the button for your location. The map of public sensors does not have it.

Tip: The map shows your location only if the app has permission to access location. If the button does nothing, allow location for the Sencito app in the phone settings (see The map does not show my location).

Note: On an Android phone the map comes from Google Maps, on an iPhone from Apple Maps. The look differs slightly, but the controls are the same.

    Several sensors in one place

Purpose / when: when several sensors on the map are practically in the same place, zooming in cannot separate them. The app therefore offers a list from which you choose.

    1. Tap a circle with sensors that are less than 6 metres apart. → A panel appears with the list of sensors (icon and name) and the Cancel button.
    2. Tap a sensor name. → The detail of this sensor opens. You close the panel with the Cancel button.

Result: The selected sensor opens, or the panel closes without changes.

Tip: A circle with sensors that are farther apart only zooms in when tapped. So keep tapping the circle until the sensors separate or the list appears.

    Adding your own sensor

You activate a purchased sensor using the licence number and the identifier that come with the sensor. Both can also be read from a QR code. You sort sensors into groups, and for each one you can set its location on the map.

Choose how to add a sensor

Purpose / when: you decide whether you are adding your own purchased sensor or a public sensor of a municipality.

    1. In the My segment, tap the green Add new sensor card. → A panel with two options slides up.
    2. Choose Create new sensor (your purchased sensor with a licence) or Add public sensor (a municipality sensor available to everyone). → The corresponding form opens, see Register a new sensor and Add public sensor.
    3. To cancel, tap Close. → The panel closes without changes.

Result: The form for the chosen way of adding has opened.

Tip: You can also close the panel by tapping outside it or by dragging it down.

    Register a new sensor

Purpose / when: activating a purchased sensor using the licence number and identifier. Have both ready (from the documents that came with the sensor or from the QR code).

    1. Tap Add new sensor and choose Create new sensor. → The Create new sensor form slides up.
    2. In the Licence number field enter the licence number. You can type it or tap the QR icon on the right in the field (see Scan a QR code). → The value appears in the field.
    3. In the Sensor identifier field enter the identifier (at least 16 characters, by hand or via QR). Then tap another field. → The app briefly shows a spinner, verifies the identifier and fills in the sensor type in the Sensor type field.
    4. Enter the Sensor name and tap the Group row. → The group picker slides up (see Select the sensor group). After you choose, the group name appears in the row.
    5. If you wish, turn on the Sensor location switch and set the location (see Set the sensor location). If you wish, tap Mark as favourite. → The star fills in turquoise.
    6. Tap Add. → If the details are correct, the sensor is created (a spinner is shown while it is being created) and the form closes. If any detail is missing, a panel with all the messages at once appears. Tap OK, fill in the details and try again.
    Licence number
Required. Any text; it can be read from a QR code. If missing: “Licence is required.”
    Sensor identifier
Required. At least 16 characters; it can be read from a QR code. The app verifies it when you leave the field. If the field is empty, the panel reports “Identifier must contain 16 or more characters.” An incorrect or non-existent identifier is rejected by the app during verification with a panel showing the error text.
    Sensor name
Required. Any name by which you will recognise the sensor. If missing: “Sensor name is required.”
    Group
Required. One of your groups or a newly created group. If missing: “Sensor group is required.”
    Sensor type
Read-only, cannot be entered. It fills in by itself after the identifier is verified. If not filled in: “Sensor type is required”.
    Sensor location
Optional. An on / off switch. After you turn it on, a map preview appears below it. If you do not change the location, the location shown in the preview is saved. With the switch off, no location is saved.
    Mark as favourite
Optional. A star on / off. A favourite sensor is stored only on this phone.

Result: With correct details the form closes, and you will find the new sensor in the My segment in the chosen group.

Caution: After you tap Add, the licence number and identifier are sent and the sensor is added to your account. Before tapping, check that both details match your sensor.

Tip: For a text field with an error, a red warning icon with an exclamation mark appears on the right instead of the QR icon. Tap it to show the message for this field. As soon as you edit the text, the icon disappears. You will find an overview of all messages in the chapter Panel with a list of form errors.

Tip: With an empty form, the panel lists all five messages: “Licence is required.”, “Identifier must contain 16 or more characters.”, “Sensor name is required.”, “Sensor group is required.” and “Sensor type is required”. If the server rejects the details (for example an invalid licence or identifier), a panel with the error text appears. In case of a connection problem, “Communication with server failled.” appears. Confirm the panel with the OK button, correct the details and try again.

Tip: If nothing happens after you tap Add and no message appears, the app did not recognise the sensor type and the Sensor type field stayed empty. Check the identifier and, if needed, contact support (see The Add / Done button does nothing).

Note: If you tap Add before the app has verified the identifier, it verifies it first (a spinner appears briefly) and only then creates the sensor. The cross in the top right closes the form without saving.

    Scan a QR code

Purpose / when: you do not have to copy the licence number or sensor identifier; you read them from the QR code with the camera.

    1. Tap the QR icon on the right in the field (Licence number or Sensor identifier; in the Add public sensor form the icon is by the Sensor identifier field). → A panel with a live camera preview and a frame slides up. On first use the phone asks for permission to use the camera; allow it.
    2. Point the camera at the QR code so that it is inside the frame. → Once recognised, the panel closes by itself and the content of the code is inserted into the field. In the Create new sensor form the app also verifies the sensor type for the identifier.
    3. To interrupt scanning, tap Cancel. → The scanner closes without a result.
    4. If you have previously denied camera access, the panel shows instead of the preview the text “Please allow access to the camera” and the explanation “Access to the camera is required to scan QR codes.” Tap Allow. → The phone settings open, where you allow the camera for the Sencito app. Then return to the app and repeat the scan.

Result: The field contains exactly what was in the QR code.

Tip: The content of the code is inserted into the field unchanged, without any modification and without opening links. So scan only the QR code that belongs to your sensor. If the scanner does not work, you will find the solution in the chapter The QR scanner does not work.

Note: In the Create new sensor form, after you cancel the scanner, the field from which you started scanning is emptied. Enter its value again. In the Add public sensor form the field stays unchanged after you cancel the scanner.

Tip: If the field already contains text and is currently active, an icon for clearing the text is shown instead of the QR icon. Tap outside the field or delete the text and the QR icon returns.

    4. Tap the name of the new group. → The group is selected in the form. It is not selected automatically; you must tap it.
    Group name
Required. Any name. If the name is empty, after you tap Done the panel stays open and nothing happens. Fill in the name before you tap Done.
    Description
    Optional. Any text.

Result: The new group is in the group list and you can select it for a sensor.

Caution: A group cannot be renamed or deleted in the app. So choose the name carefully. Cancel closes the panel without creating a group.

Tip: If the panel does not close after you tap Done, check that the group name is filled in and that you have an internet connection, and tap again. In that case the app shows no message.

    Set the sensor location

Purpose / when: placing the sensor on the map. You will see a sensor with a location on the sensor map.

    1. In the form, turn on the Sensor location switch. → A map preview appears below the switch.
    2. Tap the map preview. → On first use the app asks for permission to access location; allow it. Then a full-screen, strongly zoomed-in map opens with a pin in the middle and the Cancel and Done buttons at the bottom. If location is allowed and precise, after a brief spinner the map opens at your current location.
    3. Move the map so that the pin points to the sensor's place. → The sensor location is the centre of the map; the pin stays in place.
    4. Tap Done. → The map closes and the preview in the form shows the new location.

Result: The location is set. It is saved only together with the whole form, that is by tapping Add.

Tip: Cancel or the arrow in the top left closes the map and does not change the location.

Note: On an iPhone, turn on the “Precise Location” option for the Sencito app in the location settings. Without allowed or precise location, the map opens at the location from the preview (usually near your municipality) and you then move the pin by hand.

Tip: After you turn on the switch, the preview shows a default location. If you do not change it, this location is saved. If you do not want the sensor on the map, leave the Sensor location switch off.

    Public sensors

Public sensors belong to municipalities and anyone can follow them, for example water levels, weather or traffic. You add them without a licence, and they appear in the Shared segment.

Browse the map of public sensors

Purpose / when: you find public sensors near your municipality or other municipalities.

    1. Open the map. On the Home tab, tap Map of public sensors (see Open the map of public sensors), or in the Add public sensor form tap the map icon to the right of the field. → The map opens at your municipality. In the middle a spinner turns while loading, and municipalities appear on the map gradually.
    2. Look at the municipalities. → The map shows municipality coats of arms; a municipality without a coat of arms is marked with a blue pin. A blue circle with a number means several municipalities close together; tap it to zoom the map in. Zoom the map out to return to the coats of arms.
    3. Tap a municipality's coat of arms or zoom the map in. → The map zooms in, and from a certain zoom level individual public sensors are shown instead of coats of arms. A blue pin is a sensor you do not have yet, a green pin is a sensor you have already added.
    4. Move the map. → Sensors in the selected area load by themselves.
    5. Tap the arrow in the top left. → The map closes.

Result: You see public sensors and can choose from them. After you tap a pin, the sensor card opens, see View public sensor information.

Tip: If the map is empty for a while, wait. The coats of arms download gradually, first those near the centre of the map. If loading the municipalities fails, the app retries twice by itself.

Note: Pins of public sensors are not grouped into circles; each sensor has its own pin.

Purpose / when: before adding, you look at the latest value and state of a public sensor.

    1. On the map zoomed in to sensors, tap a pin. → A panel slides up. At the top is the sensor name (for some sensors also an icon), below it the date and time of the latest state and the sensor state with a coloured dot (green when the state is OK, otherwise red). Below is the main value: on the left its name, on the right the value with the unit.
    2. For a sensor you do not have yet, the Cancel and Select buttons are at the bottom.
    3. For a sensor you have already added, the panel shows the text “This sensor is already added.” and only the Cancel button. Tap the sensor name (or the row with the date and state) to open its detail. If the detail cannot be loaded, the panel closes.
    4. To add the sensor, tap Select for a sensor that is not added. → The panel and the map close. If you opened the map from Home, the Add public sensor form opens with the identifier already filled in. If you opened it from the form, you return to it and the identifier is inserted into the field. The sensor is added only after you tap Add in the form, see Add public sensor.

Result: You know the current value and state of the sensor and whether you have already added it. Cancel closes the panel without changes.

Note: The sensor state is shown in the panel as the system sent it (for example “OK”).

    1. Tap the Sensors tab, then Add new sensor, and choose Add public sensor. → The Add public sensor form opens. The Add button is grey and cannot be pressed until you fill in the identifier. If you are adding a sensor from the map on Home, the form opens with the identifier already filled in.
    2. In the Sensor identifier field enter the identifier. You can type it, scan it with the QR icon (see Scan a QR code), or tap the map icon to the right of the field and choose the sensor on the map (see Browse the map of public sensors). → The identifier is in the field and the Add button turns green.
    3. If you wish, tap Mark as favourite. → The star fills in turquoise.
    4. Tap Add. → A spinner shows briefly, the form closes, and in the Sensors tab the Shared segment is selected, where you will find the sensor. If you are adding a sensor from the map on Home, you stay on Home and open the Shared segment yourself.
    Sensor identifier
Required. By hand, from a QR code or from the map. Without an identifier the Add button is inactive. An empty field would report “Sensor identifier is required.”
    Mark as favourite
Optional. A star on / off. A favourite sensor is stored only on this phone.

Result: The public sensor is added and shown in the Shared segment.

Tip: If the identifier does not exist or the sensor cannot be added, a panel with the error text appears. Confirm it with the OK button and check the identifier.

Tip: In case of a connection problem, the message “Communication with server failled.” appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. When the connection is restored, tap Repeat.

    Sharing sensors

You can share your sensors with other people, who then see them in their app. Others can likewise share theirs with you. Sharing starts with an invitation that the recipient must accept.

    Accept a sharing invitation

Purpose / when: another user wants to share their sensors with you. You must accept the invitation to see them.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab and the Shared segment. → At the top is the Invitation card with the text “User john.smith@example.com has sent you an invitation” and the Cancel and Accept buttons.
    2. Tap Accept. → A spinner shows briefly, the invitation card disappears and the shared sensors appear. Above them is the sharer's name and the text “Shared by:” with their e-mail.

Result: You have the shared sensors in the Shared segment. You expand and open them the same way as your own, and you can add them to your favourites with the star.

Caution: The Cancel button on the invitation card rejects the invitation; it does not just close the card. See Decline an invitation.

Tip: You recognise pending invitations by the red number on the Sensors tab. If you do not see an invitation, pull the list down and the data will refresh.

Tip: If the invitation cannot be processed, a panel with the error text appears, for example “Communication with server failled.” Confirm it with the OK button and try again.

Purpose / when: you do not want anyone to share their sensors with you.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab and the Shared segment. → At the top is the Invitation card.
    2. On the invitation card, tap the grey Cancel button. → The invitation is declined immediately, without a further question. A spinner shows briefly and the card disappears.

Result: The invitation is declined and gone from the list.

Caution: The button is named Cancel, but it declines the invitation. Declining cannot be undone. If you want the sharing later, the owner must send it to you again.

Tip: If you do not want to decide right away, leave the invitation alone. It stays on the card until you accept or decline it.

    Stop receiving shared sensors

Purpose / when: you no longer want to see the sensors that another user shares with you.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab and the Shared segment. At the sharer's header (their name and “Shared by:” with the e-mail) tap the three-dots icon on the right. → A panel slides up with the red option Remove shared item and the Close button.
    2. Tap Remove shared item. → The sharing ends immediately, without confirmation. A spinner shows briefly and all the sensors from this user disappear from the list.
    3. If you do not want to end the sharing, tap Close. → The panel closes without changes.

Result: You no longer see the shared sensors from the selected user in your app.

Caution: The removal is carried out immediately and without a question, and it applies to all sensors from this user. You can get them back only if the owner sends you a new invitation.

Tip: Tap exactly the three-dots icon. Tapping the rest of the header does nothing. The panel opens only for a header that has the sharer's e-mail.

Tip: In case of a connection problem, the message “Communication with server failled.” appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. When the connection is restored, tap Repeat.

Purpose / when: you invite another user to follow your sensors, for example a family member or a neighbour.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab, the My share segment and Create new sharing. → The New sharing screen opens with the heading SENSORS and a back arrow, the SHARE ALL switch, an explanatory text and cards of your groups with sensors.
    2. Choose what to share. Turn on SHARE ALL, or turn on the switch for a whole group, or the switches for individual sensors. → With SHARE ALL on, the group and sensor switches disappear. For a group that is turned on, the switches of its sensors disappear.
    3. In the Enter email field write the recipient's e-mail address, for example john.smith@example.com.
    4. Tap Send invitation. → The invitation is sent, the data refresh and the screen closes. The recipient appears in the My share segment. The recipient sees the invitation in the Shared segment. If they do not have a Sencito account, they may receive an e-mail with an invitation to register.
    SHARE ALL
A switch. On: all your sensors are shared and the group and sensor switches disappear. Off: you choose groups and sensors by hand.
    Group switch
The whole group is shared, including new or removed sensors in it.
    Sensor switch
    Only this sensor is shared.
    Enter email
Required. A valid e-mail address of the recipient. If missing or in the wrong format: “Email required.”

Result: The invitation is sent and the recipient is in the My share list. The sharing takes effect once the recipient accepts the invitation (see Accept a sharing invitation).

Note: If you select no group or sensor, the panel with messages says “Please select at least one device.” Both messages (e-mail and selection) can appear together.

Tip: Sensors can be shared individually, or a whole group at once. When you share a whole group, the user then sees all changes, including new or removed sensors.

Note: Only your own sensors can be shared. If you have none, the screen shows “You don't have any sensors” and “You can share only your own sensors.” The e-mail field and the button are then not shown.

Caution: Sending has no spinner. Tap Send invitation only once and wait, so that the invitation is not sent several times. If sending fails, a panel with the error text appears, which you confirm with the OK button.

    End sharing with a recipient

Purpose / when: completely cancelling the sharing. The recipient stops seeing all your shared sensors.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab, the My share segment and the recipient's card. At the bottom tap End sharing (red text on a grey button). → The sharing ends immediately, without confirmation. The screen closes and the recipient disappears from the My share list.

Result: The recipient no longer sees any of your shared sensors.

Caution: The sharing ends immediately and without a question. To give the recipient the sharing back, you must send them a new invitation (see Share your own sensors).

Tip: Ending has no spinner. If the sharing cannot be ended, a panel with the error text appears, which you confirm with the OK button.

    Sensor detail

The sensor detail shows the latest measured values, charts, the location and, depending on the sensor type, special views, for example for parking lots, traffic, speed or cameras. For a sensor with measured values you set up alerts here; for your own sensor also its parameters and weekly plan, and you can edit or delete the sensor.

    Detail screen

The top part of the detail is the same for all sensors; below it the content differs by sensor type. You open the detail from the sensor list (see Open the sensor detail), from Home (see Open the sensor detail), by tapping a sensor marker on the map, or by tapping an alert from your sensor.

    What the sensor detail contains

Purpose / when: you get familiar with the top part of the screen and with what you will find in the detail.

    1. Look at the top row. → On the left is the back arrow, next to it a small heading SENSORS or HOME (depending on where you opened the detail from) and on the right the star for favourite sensors.
    2. Look below it. → There is the sensor type icon, the sensor name and a Group: row with the group name. For your own sensor there is a pencil to the right of the name for editing.
    3. Look at the status row. → On the left is the date and time of the sensor's last message, for example “Thursday, 5. November 2026 14:30”. On the right is the status name and a coloured dot. The dot colour matches the sensor status; each status has its own colour (for example green or teal for a normal state).
    4. Below the status is the tab switcher Information / Notice / Settings. → Depending on the tab, you see values and charts, alerts, or the sensor settings (see Switch between Information / Notice / Settings).
    5. Scroll the content down. → Sections for the sensor type appear. At the end there is usually the Sensor position section with a map.
Thermometer, hygrometer and other measuring sensors
Measured values, Time datasets (Day, Week, Month and, for some sensors, Year), Sensor position.
Water meter, electricity meter and other consumption meters
Measured values, Consumption overview, Time datasets (Day, Month, Year), Sensor position.
    Security sensor
Security with a switch, Measured values, Time datasets, Sensor position.
    Camera
    Camera preview and Sensor position.
Parking lot, traffic counter, speed meter, public camera, sensor with a web page
Special views that are described in Special device types.
    GPS locator
    Only the Sensor position section.

Result: You know what is where in the detail, and you can tell which place in the app you came from.

Note: The Notice and Settings tabs appear only when the sensor offers them. Shared and public sensors cannot be edited, so they have neither the pencil nor the Settings tab.

Tip: The coloured dot next to the status warns you about problems with the sensor without opening any charts. If the dot changes colour, check the status name next to it.

Add to favourites from the detail

Purpose / when: favourite sensors are shown on Home, so you have them at hand.

    1. Tap the star at the top right. → The star fills in (turns turquoise) and the sensor appears on Home.
    2. To remove the sensor from your favourites, tap the star again. → The star empties and the sensor disappears from Home.

Result: The sensor is added to your favourites, or removed from them.

Note: Favourites are stored only on this phone. Set them again on another phone. The same marking is also in the sensor list (see Mark a sensor as favourite).

Switch between Information / Notice / Settings

Purpose / when: you switch between values and charts, alert settings and the settings of the sensor itself.

    1. Tap the Information tab. → The current values, charts and map appear. This is the default tab, which opens first.
    2. Tap the Notice tab. → Cards of the quantities for which you can turn on an alert appear (see Turn on an alert for a quantity).
    3. Tap the Settings tab. → The sensor parameters and, if available, the weekly plan appear (see Change a parameter with options and Weekly locking / switching plan).
    4. If you have unsaved changes in progress, the app asks when you switch whether to save them. → The switch happens once you decide (see Unsaved changes prompt).

Result: The selected tab is shown.

Note: The tab switcher is shown only when at least two tabs are available. Notice is there for a sensor that measures or reports values. Settings is only for your own sensor that has parameters. A municipality administrator does not see the Notice tab in the app.

    Refresh the detail

Purpose / when: you load the latest values and the sensor status without closing the detail.

    1. Pull the detail content down with your finger and release. → The texts Release to refresh, Data refreshing and finally Refresh complete appear at the top one after another. If the data cannot be loaded, Refresh failed appears.
    2. Wait for it to finish. → The sensor values and status are updated.

Result: The detail shows the latest values and status of the sensor.

Note: The data also refreshes by itself every 5 minutes. Automatic refresh does not overwrite changes in progress in the Notice and Settings tabs.

Tip: Pulling down does not reload the charts. To get a fresh chart, close the detail and open it again.

Caution: Before refreshing manually by pulling down, first save your changes in progress in the Notice and Settings tabs (see Save changes) or discard them. The app does not ask about them when you pull down, and they could be overwritten.

    Information: values and charts

The Information tab opens first. What exactly it contains depends on the sensor type. A thermometer shows different sections than a water meter, a camera or a security sensor. Special views for parking lots, traffic, speed and cameras are in the next part.

    Measured values

Purpose / when: you find out the latest measured values of the sensor, for example temperature or humidity.

    1. Open the detail of a measuring sensor and stay in the Information tab. → You will find the Measured values section.
    2. Read the individual rows. → Each row has the quantity name on the left and the latest measured value with its unit on the right.

Result: You see the current state of all the quantities the sensor reports.

Note: For a security sensor, the alarm value is shown in words, alarm or quiet.

Tip: The time when the sensor last sent its values is in the status row under the sensor name (see What the sensor detail contains).

    Change the chart period

Purpose / when: you display how the values developed over a day, week, month or year.

    1. In the Information tab, scroll to the Time datasets section. → Below the heading is the period switcher.
    2. Tap Day, Week, Month or Year. → While the data loads, you see grey blinking blocks. Then the summary and charts appear. A period that has already been loaded switches instantly.
    3. Look below the switcher. → First comes the summary for the selected period (one summary value per quantity, for example the highest or the average) and below it a card with a chart for each quantity. The card header shows the quantity name and, on the right, the unit.
    4. If the sensor has no data for the selected period, the text No data for the selected period appears instead of charts. → Try another period.
    Day
Individual measurements for the last 24 hours; each point in the chart is one sensor message. For a traffic counter and a speed meter, the last 24 hours by hour.
    Week
Summary values for the last week. For a traffic counter and a speed meter, the last 8 days by day.
    Month
Summary values for the last month. For a traffic counter and a speed meter, by day.
    Year
Overview over a longer period. For a traffic counter and a speed meter, the last year by month.

Result: The charts and summary values match the selected period.

Note: The choice of periods depends on the sensor type. Day and Month are always available. Measuring sensors (for example a thermometer) also offer Week and some of them Year. Consumption meters (water meter, electricity meter) offer Day, Month and Year, but not Week. A traffic counter and a speed meter offer all four. Some older sensor types offer only Day and Month.

Note: The app offers neither a custom from–to range nor data export. You can browse the data only over fixed periods. You can find out more in the Troubleshooting chapter (How do I export sensor data?).

Tip: The same text No data for the selected period also appears when the chart failed to load. Check your internet connection and switch the period again, or open the detail again.

Check the exact value in a chart

Purpose / when: you read the value at a specific time you are interested in.

    1. Touch a line chart and drag your finger along the curve. → A coloured bubble with the time and the value, including its unit, is shown at the top of the chart. The bubble is anchored in the upper part of the chart so your finger does not cover it.
    2. In a consumption bar chart, tap a group of bars. → The bubble shows the time and two lines, the value for the previous and for the current period (labelled Yesterday and Today, or Last and This). If a value is missing, the row has a dash.
    3. In traffic and speed bar charts, tap a bar. → The bubble shows the time and the values by category; for speed, the rows Max and Average.
    4. In the Traffic density colour grid, tap a cell; in the Vehicle types tile chart, tap a tile. → The bubble shows the date, hour and number of vehicles, or the vehicle type name and count, respectively.

Result: You see the exact value at the time you selected.

Consumption overview (water meter, electricity meter)

Purpose / when: you compare consumption in the current period with the previous period.

    1. Open the detail of a water meter, electricity meter or another consumption meter (gas meter, heat meter, socket with measurement). → In the Information tab there is the Consumption overview section with four rows.
    2. In the Time datasets section, switch the period (see Change the chart period). → The labels and values in the overview change according to the selected period.
    3. Look at the bar charts below the overview. → They compare consumption in the current and the previous period, for example Today × Yesterday or This × Last month. If there is little data for the current period yet (for example shortly after midnight), the chart mostly shows the previous period. Tap the bars to show the exact values (see Check the exact value in a chart).
    With the Day period
Today, Yesterday, Difference (the difference between today and yesterday) and Yesterday at the same time.
With the Month and Year periods
This month, Previous month, Difference and Previous month at the same time.

Result: You see how much the consumption changed compared with the previous period.

Note: For consumption meters the Week period is not offered. While the overview loads, you see grey blinking rows in its place.

    Water level and flood levels

Purpose / when: for a water level sensor you see how high the water level is relative to the flood levels.

    1. Open the detail of a water level sensor. → In the Information tab, the Time datasets section contains a chart of the water level.
    2. Look at the horizontal lines in the chart. → They mark the flood levels. Below the chart is a legend with the name of each level and its value.
    3. Switch the period (see Change the chart period). → The lines may change because they relate to the highest water level in the selected period.
    Drought
A line marking the drought level.
    1. flood level, 2. flood level, 3. flood level
Lines marking progressively higher flood levels.
    3. flood level (extreme flood)
The highest level. It is shown only for sensors that have it set.

Result: You see which flood level the water reached and which level is the nearest one above it.

Note: The chart always has at most two lines: the last level the water reached in the selected period, and the nearest higher level. If the water level is below all levels, you see only the lowest one. If it is above all of them, you see only the highest one.

Tip: Flood level lines are shown only for sensors that have the levels set. Otherwise the water level chart has no lines.

    Table of values

Purpose / when: some sensors show values in a clear table. It is above the Time datasets section.

    1. Open the detail of such a sensor and stay in the Information tab. → You will find a table, above which its name may appear.
    2. Read the column headers. → They have the form Name [unit], for example “Temperature [°C]”. A column without a unit has only its name.
    3. Tap the icon in a cell, if there is one. → A link icon opens the link and an image icon opens the image in a web browser. A cross instead of the image icon means the image is not available.

Result: You see the values of several quantities or items clearly side by side.

Note: Table cells may contain text, a coloured dot or an icon. The meaning of the colours is explained by the sensor operator.

    Security in the detail

Purpose / when: you switch the monitoring of a security sensor on or off right from its detail.

    1. Open the detail of a security sensor. → In the Information tab, at the top, is the Security section with the Status switch. Below the Status label are the date and time of the last change and who made it.
    2. To turn security on, flip the Status switch to the on position. → It turns on immediately. A progress indicator is shown briefly and, after the data refreshes, the sensor appears as secured.
    3. To turn security off, flip the Status switch to the off position. → A confirmation slides up with the sensor name and the text “Please confirm deactivation of the security sensor. Are you sure you want to deactivate the security sensor?”.
    4. Tap Deactivate. → Security is turned off. Tap Cancel to keep security on.

Result: The security state of the sensor is changed, and other users who see the sensor will see the new state.

Caution: When security is off, the sensor stops monitoring. That is why turning it off always requires confirmation, whereas turning it on does not.

Tip: You can do the same with the switch on the sensor tile on Home (see Switch on a sensor's security and Switch off a sensor's security).

Tip: If the switch still looks off after you tap Cancel, pull the detail down (see Refresh the detail). The actual state of the sensor is shown.

Note: If the change cannot be sent, a panel with the error text or with the message “Communication with server failled.” appears. Try again.

Parking lots, traffic counters, speed meters and cameras have their own view in the Information tab. The header, the tabs and the Sensor position section are the same as for other sensors.

    Parking lot

Purpose / when: you find out how many spaces in a parking lot are free.

    1. Open the parking lot detail. → At the top are the name and a ring chart with a hole in the middle. The hole shows the total number of spaces. The green segment is free spaces, the red one occupied spaces and the grey one spaces with an unknown state.
    2. Look below the chart. → There are three rows with counts: Free, Occupied and Unknown.
    3. If it is enabled for the parking lot, keep scrolling to the Camera preview section. → It shows a live image of the parking lot, refreshed every second. Tap it to enlarge it (see Camera image in full screen).
    4. Keep scrolling to the Occupancy prediction section. → A line chart shows the forecast occupancy in percent, from about two hours back to one day ahead.

Result: You know how many spaces are free, and you see the occupancy forecast.

Tip: Right after you open the detail, the text Unknown state may briefly appear in the middle of the ring and the counts may be zero. The data is still loading; wait a moment.

Note: The Camera preview and Occupancy prediction sections appear only when they are available for the given parking lot.

    1. Open the detail of a traffic counter. → At the top is the Time datasets section with the Day / Week / Month / Year switcher. Day shows the last 24 hours by hour, Week the last 8 days by day, Month the last month by day and Year the last year by month.
    2. Look at the Vehicle counts chart. → Stacked bars show the counts for the selected period. A counter that classifies vehicles has the categories Personal, Van and Truck in the legend. A plain counter has a single series, Counted. Tap a bar to show the time and the counts by category.
    3. Scroll to the Vehicle types section. → The tiles are sized by the share of each category. Tap a tile to show its name and count. Below the chart is a legend. The section is only for a counter that classifies vehicles.
    4. Switch to Week or Month and scroll to the Traffic density section. → The colour grid has rows for days and columns for hours 0 to 23. The more saturated the colour, the more vehicles. At the bottom is a colour scale from zero to the largest value. You can scroll the grid sideways. Tap a cell to show the date, hour and number of vehicles.

Result: You see the vehicle counts, their shares by type and the traffic density by day and hour.

Note: The Traffic density section appears only for the Week and Month periods. If there is no data, you will see the text No data for the selected period.

Tip: Category colours differ between the bar chart and the tiles. When reading, go by the labels and the legend, not by colour.

    Speed measurement

Purpose / when: you find out vehicle speeds and how many vehicles exceeded the limit, and compare them by vehicle type or lane.

    1. Open the detail of a speed meter and tap the Vehicle type row. → A panel with a menu slides up. It contains Total. A radar that classifies vehicles also offers Personal, Van, Bus, Truck and Other. If the camera is enabled for the sensor, Camera is in the menu too.
    2. Tap the type you want. → The panel closes and the charts are recalculated for the selected type. The Close button closes the panel without a change.
    3. Select the period with the switcher in the Time datasets section (Day, Week, Month, Year; see Change the chart period). → The charts load for the selected period.
    4. If the radar has several lanes, tap the Lane row and choose All lanes or a specific lane. → The charts are recalculated. Lanes are named after the sensor, or as “Lane 1”, “Lane 2” and so on.
    5. Look at the Max / average speed chart. → Bars show the top speed, the line shows the average speed and the dashed horizontal line shows the Speed limit. The unit is km/h. Tap a bar to show the time and the rows “Max” and “Average”.
    6. Keep scrolling. → The Speeding chart has stacked bars Within limit and Over limit. The Vehicle types section (for the Total type and for a radar that classifies vehicles) shows two tiles for each type, for example “Personal – Within limit” and “Personal – Over limit”. For the Week and Month periods, the Traffic density colour grid follows.
    7. To see the last vehicle, choose Camera in the Vehicle type menu. → Instead of charts, the last camera image is shown (refreshed every second) with the rows Vehicle type (Personal, Van, Truck, Bus, Pedestrian, Bicycle or Other) and Speed of the last vehicle, for example “47 km/h”.
    Vehicle type
A choice from the menu: Total, Personal, Van, Bus, Truck, Other and Camera. The row is visible only when there is something to choose from.
    Lane
A choice from the menu: All lanes or one of the lanes. The row is visible only when the radar has more than one lane. It is not shown in Camera mode.

Result: The charts and statistics match the selected vehicle type, lane and period.

Tip: The colour of the top-speed bar shows how much the limit is exceeded. Green means a speed within the limit; the greater the excess, the warmer the colour (yellow, orange, red).

Note: In Camera mode there are no charts or period switcher. Tap the image to enlarge it (see Camera image in full screen). You return to the charts by choosing Total or another vehicle type. The Camera option is only for sensors that have it enabled, and only for users with permission.

    Radar speed display (older type)

Purpose / when: for an older radar speed display you see a summary of how many drivers kept to the permitted speed.

    1. Open the detail of a radar speed display. → At the top are the sensor name and two ring charts. The left one shows the permitted speed (the number in the middle). The right one shows the share of vehicles that kept to and exceeded the speed, with the total number of vehicles in the middle.
    2. Look below the charts. → There are the rows Max speed exceeded and Max speed not exceeded (share in percent), Total vehicles, Top speed and Average speed.
    3. Keep scrolling. → The usual Time datasets charts follow, with the periods Day, Week and Month (see Change the chart period).

Result: You see what percentage of vehicles kept to the speed limit, and the top and average speed.

Note: Older radar speed displays have this view. Newer speed meters are described in Speed measurement.

    Camera preview and live stream

Purpose / when: you look at the current image from a camera.

    1. Open the camera detail. → In the Information tab there is the Camera preview section.
    2. If the camera is of the still image type, look at the picture below the heading. → It is the latest image, which refreshes by itself at regular intervals (5 seconds by default, depending on the camera). On the right in the section header is the text Fullscreen with an arrow.
    3. If the camera is of the video type, look at the embedded live stream. → The player has its own controls. While the stream loads, a spinner turns. While it is displayed, you can rotate your phone to landscape. The Fullscreen text is not in the header here.

Result: You see the current image or the live stream from the camera.

Tip: Tap the image to enlarge it (see Camera image in full screen). For a live stream, enlarging is offered by the player's own buttons.

Note: The picture comes from the operator's camera, not from Sencito. If the camera is not broadcasting at the moment or is unavailable, the preview may stay empty. If the camera has no image address, tapping the image shows a panel with the message “Communication with server failled.”.

    GPS locator and web content

Purpose / when: for sensors that show only their position or an embedded web page, you see this content instead of charts.

    1. Open the detail of a GPS locator. → In the Information tab there is only the Sensor position section with a map and the last known position.
    2. Open the detail of a sensor with web content. → Above the map is an embedded web page in a rounded card. A spinner is shown while it loads.

Result: You see the position of the locator, or the page that the operator set up for the sensor.

Note: If a web sensor has no page address set, nothing appears above the map. You open the map at full size as for other sensors (see Sensor location on the map).

    Notice (alerts)

In the Notice tab you set when and how you get an alert from a particular sensor. The tab is for citizens only; the municipality administrator does not see it. The settings are not sent immediately, but only after you tap Save in the bottom bar (see Save changes). For alerts to reach your phone, the app must have notifications allowed in the phone settings (see Allow notifications).

Turn on an alert for a quantity

Purpose / when: you have the sensor values monitored and get alerted when something important happens, for example when the temperature exceeds a chosen limit.

    1. In the sensor detail, tap the Notice tab. → Cards of the quantities that can be monitored appear. Each has a name and a switch on the right. If a quantity has a description, there is a question mark next to the name (see Help for a quantity or parameter). Quantities for which an alert cannot be turned on are not shown here.
    2. Turn on the switch for the quantity you want to monitor. → The card expands. It contains the limits Value is greater than and Value is less than (only for quantities with a chart), the switches Application (on by default), SMS (only for sensors with SMS enabled) and E-mail, and the Validity row.
    3. Set the limits, delivery methods and validity as needed (see Set the limits (greater than / less than), Choose how the alert arrives and Set the time validity of an alert). → A bar with the buttons Save and Discard appears at the bottom.
    4. Tap Save. → The changes are sent and the bar disappears. Tapping Discard restores the original settings.
    5. To cancel an alert, turn off the switch for the quantity and tap Save. → The card collapses and the alert is cancelled after saving.
Switch next to the quantity name
On: the alert for this quantity is active. Off: no alerts.
Value is greater than / Value is less than
The limits at which the alert arrives. Only for quantities with a chart.
    Application / SMS / E-mail
    How the alert arrives.
    Validity
The time of day when the alert is sent.

Result: After saving, you will receive alerts for the selected quantity in the ways you chose.

Tip: For quantities with a chart, set at least one limit; otherwise the alert has nothing to monitor against (see Set the limits (greater than / less than)). Some quantities have no limits, for example the alarm of a security sensor or the flood level of a water level sensor. For those, just turn on the switch and choose the delivery method.

Note: Until you save, the changes exist only on the phone. After a successful save no message appears; the bar with the buttons just disappears.

Tip: If alerts are not arriving, go through the checklist in the Troubleshooting chapter (I am not receiving alerts).

Set the limits (greater than / less than)

Purpose / when: you specify the values above or below which you get an alert.

    1. For a quantity that is turned on, tap the Value is greater than field (or Value is less than). In parentheses after the name is the unit of the quantity, for example “Value is greater than (°C)”. → A panel slides up with the quantity name and two fields, prefilled with the current limits. The cursor is in the field you tapped. You cannot type into the fields on the card itself; entry always takes place in the panel.
    2. Type a number, for example 25 or -3.5. → Only digits, a minus sign at the start and a decimal point are allowed. Leave a limit that should not apply empty.
    3. Tap Done (or the Done button on the keyboard in the second field). → The panel closes, the fields on the card show the entered limits and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom. The Cancel button closes the panel without a change.
    4. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The limits are sent.
    Value is greater than
Upper limit. The alert arrives when the measured value is greater than the entered number. A number is allowed, optionally with a minus sign and a decimal point. An empty field means the upper limit does not apply. A lone minus sign or a lone dot is not a number; such a limit is not saved.
    Value is less than
Lower limit. The alert arrives when the measured value is less than the entered number. The allowed values are the same. An empty field means the lower limit does not apply.

Result: An alert arrives when the value exceeds the upper limit or falls below the lower limit. If you enter both limits, you get an alert when either of them is crossed.

Caution: At least one limit must be filled in. If both fields are empty after you tap Done, the panel does not close and a window with no explanatory text appears, with only an OK button. Tap OK and fill in at least one field.

Tip: Write decimal places with a dot (25.5), not a comma. The field does not accept a comma.

Note: Quantities without a chart, for example an alarm or a flood level, have no limit values. They are turned on only with the switch and the delivery method.

    Choose how the alert arrives

Purpose / when: you choose whether the alert reaches you in the app, as an SMS or by e-mail.

    1. For a quantity that is turned on, find the switches Application, SMS and E-mail. → After you turn on the quantity, only Application is on by default. The SMS switch is visible only when the sensor supports SMS.
    2. Turn the switches on or off depending on how you want to receive the alert. → The switch position changes and the Save / Discard bar appears.
    3. Tap Save. → Your choice of delivery methods is saved.
    Application
The alert arrives as a notification on your phone.
    SMS
The alert arrives as a text message. The switch is only for sensors with SMS enabled.
    E-mail
    The alert arrives by e-mail.

Result: Alerts will arrive in the ways you chose.

Tip: You can turn on several methods at once. You save the phone number for SMS in your Profile (see Change name and phone).

Note: SMS messages may be charged; the municipality administrator or the sensor operator can give you details. For notifications in the app to arrive, they must be allowed on the phone (see Allow notifications).

Set the time validity of an alert

Purpose / when: you limit alerts to a certain time of day, for example so that you are not disturbed at night.

    1. For a quantity that is turned on, tap the Validity row, which shows a time window, for example “00:00 – 00:00”. → A panel slides up with the heading “Validity: 00:00 – 00:00” and two sliders.
    2. Use the Valid from slider to set the start and the Valid to slider to set the end. → The time changes in 15-minute steps and the selected window is continuously shown in the panel heading and next to the sliders.
    3. Tap Done. → The panel closes, the Validity row shows the new window and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom. The Cancel button closes the panel without a change.
    4. Tap Save. → The validity is saved together with the other changes.
    Valid from
The start of the time when the alert is sent. Allowed values are from 00:00 to 23:45 in 15-minute steps.
    Valid to
The end of the time when the alert is sent. Allowed values are from 00:00 to 23:45 in 15-minute steps. The end can be earlier than the start.

Result: Alerts will be sent only at the selected time of day.

Tip: The window can span midnight, for example from 22:00 to 06:00. The default setting 00:00 – 00:00 means the alert is not limited in time.

Note: Set the latest time to 23:45. The far-right slider position is shown (and saved) as 23:00.

Help for a quantity or parameter

Purpose / when: you find out what a quantity, parameter or plan means.

    1. Tap the question mark next to the name of a quantity (in the Notice tab), a parameter (in the Settings tab) or the heading of the weekly plan. → A panel with the name and description slides up.
    2. Read the description and tap Close. → The panel closes.

Result: You know what the item is for.

Note: The question mark appears only for items that have a description. The description is supplied by the sensor operator. For the weekly plan the description is: “This setting enables automatic unlocking and locking of sensors monitoring alarm conditions.” (locking plan) or “This setting enables the socket to be turned on and off automatically.” (socket plan).

    Sensor settings and plan

The Settings tab is only for your own sensor that has parameters. Each parameter has its own card. At the top is its name (with a question mark if it has a description) and below it the date and time of the last change. Below that is the current value, or the text Not set if the parameter has no value yet. For a parameter that can only be written and cannot be read, the text is Set new value. A parameter you can change has an arrow or a switch on the right. A read-only parameter is shown without them. Changes are sent only after you tap Save (see Save changes).

    Change a parameter with options

Purpose / when: you choose the parameter value from a list of predefined options.

    1. In the detail of your own sensor, tap the Settings tab. → The parameter cards appear.
    2. Tap the row with the parameter value (it has an arrow on the right). → A panel slides up with a list of options and a Close button.
    3. Tap the option you want. → The panel closes, the new value is on the card and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom. The Close button closes the panel without a change.
    4. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The value is sent.

Result: The parameter has a new value and may be passed on to the device.

Tip: If the parameter does not yet have any of the offered options, the text “null” may be shown instead of a value. Choose one of the options and save.

Note: A read-only parameter has no arrow and cannot be changed.

Change a numeric or text parameter

Purpose / when: you enter a new value for a parameter that is a number or text.

    1. In the Settings tab, tap the row with the parameter value. → A panel slides up with a field named after the parameter. It contains the current value (for a write-only parameter the field is empty) and the keyboard opens (a numeric one for numbers).
    2. Overwrite the value. For decimal numbers, use a decimal point. → For numbers, only digits, a minus sign and a dot are allowed.
    3. Tap OK. → If the value is fine, the panel closes, the card shows the new value and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom. Otherwise an error with a red warning icon is shown above the field and the panel stays open. The Close button closes the panel without a change.
    4. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The value is sent.
Parameter value (the field is named after the parameter)
An integer, a decimal number (with a decimal point) or text, depending on the kind of parameter. A parameter may have a minimum and a maximum allowed value. The range is checked only for integers and decimal numbers. If the value is out of range, the message “The value must be equal to or greater than …” (with the minimum allowed value, for example “The value must be equal to or greater than 10.0”) or “The value must be equal to or less than …” (with the maximum allowed value) is shown. Both messages can appear at once.

Result: The parameter has a new value.

Tip: You also get the message “The value must be equal to or greater than …” when, for a parameter with a minimum allowed value, the field stays empty or you type something that is not a number. If a parameter has only a maximum allowed value, you get the “less than” message the same way. For an integer parameter, do not type a decimal part.

Note: A parameter without limits accepts any value. If the value does not suit the device, the server may reject it only when saving. A panel with the error text is shown.

    Change a date

Purpose / when: you set a parameter that is a date.

    1. In the Settings tab, tap the row with the value of a date-type parameter. → The phone calendar opens with today preselected. You can select roughly 10 years back and 10 years ahead.
    2. Select a day and confirm it with the OK button. The button label depends on the language of your phone. → The calendar closes, the card shows the new date and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom.
    3. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The date is sent.

Result: The parameter has a new date.

Note: Only the day is selected; no time is entered. The date is shown on the parameter card in a technical form, for example 2026-11-05T00:00:00.000.

Tip: Close the calendar without selecting by using the cancel button or by tapping outside the window. The parameter value does not change.

    Turn a parameter on/off

Purpose / when: you turn on or off a parameter that has only two values, yes and no.

    1. In the Settings tab, flip the switch of the parameter. → The text On or Off next to the switch changes and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom.
    2. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The value is saved.

Result: The parameter is on or off.

Note: A read-only parameter has no switch; instead the text “true” (on) or “false” (off) is shown. Until you save, the change is visible only on the phone, and you can undo it with the Discard button.

    Weekly locking / switching plan

Purpose / when: you set a security sensor to lock and unlock automatically, or a smart socket to switch itself on and off by day and hour.

    1. In the Settings tab, scroll down. → Below the parameters is the Locking Plan (security sensor) or Socket Plan (socket). The card has the rows Whole Week and Monday to Sunday. Each row has a status icon on the right. Tap the question mark next to the heading to show an explanation of the plan.
    2. Tap the status icon on a row. → The state cycles: off (a grey prohibition icon), then the first option, then the second option, and off again. The meaning of the options is in the list below.
    3. For a day with an active state, a time window with a clock icon appears under the day name; the default is “00:00 – 00:00”. Tap it. → A panel slides up with the heading “Locking Plan: …” or “Socket Plan: …” and two sliders, Valid from and Valid to.
    4. Set the time with the sliders (in 15-minute steps) and tap Done. → The panel closes, the row shows the new window and the Save / Discard bar appears at the bottom. The Cancel button closes the panel without a change.
    5. Tap Save in the bottom bar. → The plan is sent.

For the Whole Week row, nothing is scheduled. For a specific day, the day follows the Whole Week row. No time window is shown for it.
    Valid from / Valid to
The start and end of the time window, from 00:00 to 23:45 in 15-minute steps. The end can be earlier than the start (a window across midnight).

Result: The sensor locks and unlocks automatically according to the plan, or the socket switches on and off.

Tip: The chosen state applies inside the time window; outside the window the sensor or socket switches to the opposite state. For example, “lock” from 22:00 to 06:00 means locked overnight and unlocked during the day.

Caution: The start and end of the window must differ. The default window “00:00 – 00:00” switches nothing, so always set a real time.

Tip: The Whole Week row applies to all days. If you set a specific day separately, that day takes precedence.

Note: The plan is evaluated by the system, which switches with an accuracy of roughly 15 minutes, so a change does not always take effect to the exact minute. The plan is only inside the Settings tab, which is only for your own sensor with at least one parameter.

    Saving changes

Changes in the Notice and Settings tabs, including the weekly plan, are not sent immediately. They are collected on the phone and sent all at once when you tap Save. Until you save them, you can discard them. If you return a value to the original, the bar with the buttons disappears by itself.

    Save changes

Purpose / when: you send all the changes in progress to alerts, parameters and the plan at once.

    1. Change anything in the Notice or Settings tab. → A bar with the buttons Save and Discard appears at the bottom.
    2. Tap Save. → All changes are sent at once. After a successful save the bar disappears.

Result: The changes are sent and saved.

Note: A successful save is not confirmed by any message; the bar just disappears. If saving fails, a panel with the error text or with the message “Communication with server failled.” appears. The bar stays and you can tap Save again.

Tip: If you do not want to send the changes, tap Discard (see Discard changes).

    Discard changes

Purpose / when: you return the edits in progress to the saved state, for example when you made a typo.

    1. Tap Discard in the bottom bar. → The alert, parameter and plan values immediately return to the saved state and the bar disappears. Nothing is sent.

Result: All unsaved edits are gone and the sensor has its original settings.

Note: The back arrow and switching tabs do not discard changes; they only trigger a prompt (see Unsaved changes prompt). To delete edits, use the Discard button.

    Unsaved changes prompt

Purpose / when: the app protects you from accidentally losing changes in progress.

    1. You have unsaved changes and tap the back arrow or another tab. → A panel slides up with the sensor name and the text “You have unsaved changes. Save them?”. It has the buttons Cancel and Done.
    2. To save the changes, tap Done. → The changes are saved the same way as with the Save button and the bar disappears. You stay in the detail, so tap the back arrow or the tab again.
    3. To dismiss the prompt, tap Cancel. → You stay in the detail and the changes stay in progress.

Result: You will not lose changes in progress by accident.

Note: The Done button here means “save”, not “discard”. To discard the changes, close the prompt with Cancel and tap Discard in the bottom bar (see Discard changes).

    Editing and deleting a sensor

You can edit or delete only your own sensor. For a shared or public sensor the pencil is not shown in the detail.

Edit the name, group or location

Purpose / when: you rename the sensor, move it to another group, or change or remove its location.

    1. In the detail of your own sensor, tap the pencil to the right of the name. → The Sensor edit form opens. It contains the sensor identifier (in bold, cannot be changed), Sensor name, Group, the Sensor location switch and the buttons Save and Delete sensor.
    2. Overwrite the Sensor name. → The field contains the new name.
    3. To move the sensor, tap the Group row and choose another group, or New group (see Select the sensor group). → The form shows the new group.
    4. To change the location, turn on the Sensor location switch and tap the map preview. → The first time you use it, the app asks for permission to use your location. If location is allowed and precise, a full-screen map opens with a pin in the middle at your current location, otherwise at the existing location of the sensor. Move the map so that the pin points to the right place and tap Done (see Set the sensor location). Cancel closes the map without a change. The map preview is updated.
    5. To remove the location, turn off the Sensor location switch. → After saving, the sensor will have no location and will disappear from the map.
    6. Tap Save. → A progress indicator is shown. On success the form closes and the detail shows the new name and group.
    Sensor identifier
Read-only, shown in bold. It cannot be changed.
    Sensor name
Required text. The app does not accept an empty name and shows the message “Sensor name is required.” in a panel with an OK button.
    Group
Required. One of your existing groups, or a newly created one. Without a group, the message “Sensor group is required.” is shown in a panel with an OK button.
    Sensor location
A switch. On: the sensor has a location according to the map. Off: the location of the sensor is removed after saving. If you turn it on for a sensor without a location, the map preview shows a default location (usually near your municipality), and if you do not change it, exactly this location is saved.

Result: The sensor has a new name, group or location.

Tip: Close the form without saving using the cross at the top right. The app then returns to the main screen (Home or Sensors) instead of the detail. Unsaved changes are discarded. If the form fails to load, for example without internet, it closes again right away.

Note: If saving fails, a panel with the error text or with the message “Communication with server failled.” appears.

    Delete a sensor

Purpose / when: you permanently remove the sensor from your account, for example when you no longer use it.

    1. Open the Sensor edit form (see Edit the name, group or location) and tap the red Delete sensor at the bottom. → A confirmation slides up with the sensor name and the question “Are you sure you want to delete the sensor?”.
    2. In the confirmation, tap Delete sensor. → A progress indicator is shown. The sensor is deleted, both the form and the detail close, and the sensor is no longer in the list.
    3. To keep the sensor, tap Cancel or tap outside the panel. → The confirmation closes and the sensor stays.

Result: The sensor is permanently deleted.

Caution: Deletion cannot be undone. The sensor, its sharing with other people and the alerts you set up disappear. If you want to use it later, you will have to add it again (see Choose how to add a sensor).

    Info channel

Info channels are the articles from your municipality and from the other sources you subscribe to. In this chapter you will learn how to read articles, switch between channels, hide categories you are not interested in, enlarge photos, open attachments, share a link, and how to tell that a new article has arrived.

    The article list

The Info channel tab shows the articles from your main info channel (usually your municipality). You can switch to the other sources you subscribe to, or to the national Sencito channel. Articles are sorted from the newest.

    Read news articles

Purpose / when: you want to read what is new in your municipality or in another source you subscribe to.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap the Info channel tab. → The heading Infochannel appears, below it a row with the channel name, a row of coloured category chips and the article cards. Your main info channel is shown first.
    2. Browse the articles by scrolling up and down with your finger. → The heading, the channel name and the chips scroll together with the articles.
    3. Tap an article card to open its full text. → The article detail opens, see Open an article.
    4. Scroll almost to the end of the list. → A spinner appears at the bottom and older articles load by themselves (50 at a time). When there are no more older articles, the list simply ends.
    5. If loading older articles fails, a Repeat button appears below the last article (without any message). Tap it. → Loading is tried again.
    6. To refresh the articles, pull the screen down with your finger at the start of the list and release it. → The captions Release to refresh, Data refreshing and finally Refresh complete appear at the top; the list is updated. Older articles you have already loaded stay in the list.
    7. If you tap the Info channel tab while it is already open, the list returns to the top and any open article detail is closed.

An article card contains, from the top:

    Image
Shown only for articles that have an image. A spinner is shown in its place until it loads.
    Coloured square with an icon
Marks the category of the article. The colour and icon of the category are set by the source of the articles (for example the municipality).
    Title
The bold heading of the article.
    Description
The introductory text of the article; it can be formatted. Links in the description cannot be opened on the card; tap the card to open the article and tap the link there.
    Arrow on the right
Shown for articles that have a web address.
    Date
The day of publication in capital letters, for example "MONDAY, 12. JANUARY 2026".
    SHARE
A button for sending a link to the article, see Share an article. It is present only on articles with a web address.

Result: you see the current articles of the selected source and can open, filter or share them.

Articles also refresh by themselves, about every 5 minutes and when you return to the app from the background. You will see new items without refreshing manually.

When the list shows the sentence "There are currently no articles.", the selected channel has no articles yet. Articles that have no category assigned are not shown in the list.

If you see only the Infochannel heading without a channel name, the articles have not loaded yet. Pull the screen down to refresh the data.

If the refresh fails, a panel with a message appears, for example "Check your internet connection." or "Could not download data from the server". Close it with the OK button and try again once you are connected to the internet.

You will also find the latest article of your main info channel on the Home tab (it is not shown there to a municipality administrator). The All articles link opens this list.

    Switch channel

Purpose / when: you want to read articles from a different source than the one currently shown, for example another municipality you subscribe to or the national Sencito channel.

    1. Tap the row with the channel name below the Infochannel heading. The row has a down arrow on the right, and you can tap anywhere on it. → A panel with the list of channels and a Close button slides up from the bottom.
    2. Look through the list. → Your main info channel is first, followed by the other channels (your other sources and the national Sencito channel) sorted by name. Channels that have an icon show it to the left of the name. If there are many channels, the list can be scrolled. The channel currently shown is not highlighted in the list; you can tell it by the name above the article list.
    3. Tap the name of the channel you want to show. → The panel closes, the new name is at the top and the articles of the chosen channel appear. The category chips return to their default state (all turned on).
    4. If you do not want to change the channel, tap Close. → The panel closes and the original channel stays. You can also close the panel by tapping outside it or by dragging it down.

Result: the article list shows the chosen channel.

The channel choice is not remembered. After the app is restarted, your main info channel is shown again.

You add, turn off or remove other sources in the Profile tab, in the Other sources of information section. Only active sources appear in the list; a turned-off source is not offered.

A municipality administrator who signs in to the administration sees all available channels in the list.

    Filter by category

Purpose / when: you do not want to see articles of some categories, for example classified ads, and you are interested only in the rest.

    1. Look at the row of coloured chips below the channel name. → Each chip is one article category and has a name and usually a small icon. At the start all of them are turned on (coloured), so you see articles of all categories. The chips are sorted by name.
    2. Tap the chip of the category you do not want to read. → The chip turns grey and the articles of that category disappear from the list.
    3. To bring a category back, tap its grey chip again. → The chip is coloured again and the articles of the category return.
    4. If not all the chips fit across the width, swipe the row left or right. → More chips appear.
    Category chip
Coloured chip = the articles of the category are shown. Grey chip = the articles of the category are hidden. You can turn off any number of categories. If you turn them all off, the app turns them all back on by itself.

Result: only the articles of the categories that are turned on remain in the list.

Tapping a chip always turns just that one category off or on. You cannot use it to choose "show only this category"; to see just one, turn off the others.

The filter setting is not saved. It is reset when you switch to another channel and when the app is restarted.

The chips are built from the articles already loaded. After older articles load, a new chip may therefore appear. If you have already changed the filter, the new chip may be grey. Tap it to turn it on and the articles of the category are shown.

A row of category chips, one of which is grey (turned off), and below it a list of articles without that category
    A turned-off category is grey

    Share an article

Purpose / when: you want to send someone a link to an article, for example to a neighbour or to family.

    1. Find the article you want to share. In the list, the SHARE button with a share icon is at the bottom right of the card, next to the date. In the article detail it is below the title. → You see the button only on articles that have a web address.
    2. Tap SHARE. → Your phone's share panel opens with the link to the article. The article itself does not open.
    3. Choose the app you want to send the link with (messages, email, clipboard and others, depending on your phone). → The link is passed to the chosen app and you send it as usual.
    4. If you do not want to send anything, close the share panel. → Nothing is sent or changed.

Result: the recipient gets a link (a web address) to the article.

Only the link is shared, without the text of the article. The look of the share panel and the choice of apps depend on your phone.

You will find the same SHARE button on articles on the Home tab and on articles in the Info tab, if they have a web address.

    New articles and notifications

Purpose / when: you want to know that the municipality has published a new article without having to check the Info channel tab.

    1. Look at the bottom bar. → If the Info channel tab has a red circle with a number, that is the number of new articles in your main info channel. An article is new if it is more recent than the most recent one you have already viewed.
    2. Open the Info channel tab. → The number disappears. If you open a new article elsewhere (for example from Home), the number drops to the count of articles newer than the one you opened.
    3. To receive notifications outside the app as well, turn on delivery of articles via Application for the channel in the Profile tab. → When the municipality publishes a new article, you get a notification on your phone.
    4. If the app is open when an article arrives, watch the top edge of the screen. → A bubble with the title and text of the notification appears at the top for about 4 seconds.
    5. Tap the bubble or the notification. → The app first briefly refreshes its data, switches to the Info channel tab and opens the relevant article. It is shown full-screen without the bottom bar; the back arrow takes you back to the list.
    6. If you do not want to open the article, tap Cancel in the bubble or drag the bubble up or down with your finger. → The bubble disappears. It also disappears by itself after a few seconds.

Result: you know about the new article and can get to it with one tap.

The number on the tab counts only articles of the main info channel. Articles from your other sources are not included. After you sign in, only articles that are added later count as new.

The number most likely appears after the app starts or after you return to it, if you have not opened the Info channel tab since launch. Once you open it, further articles are treated as viewed on every data refresh, and the number may not show for them. You then recognise new articles in the list or from the notification.

The notification bubble also appears for other Sencito notifications, for example alerts from sensors. Tapping it opens the relevant screen.

When you launch the app for the first time, your phone asks for permission to show notifications. Without permission, notifications do not arrive even if Application delivery is turned on.

If the article from the notification is not in the loaded data, the app only switches to the Info channel tab. You will then find the article in the list, or after refreshing by pulling down.

    Article detail

After you tap an article, its full text opens. Depending on what the article contains, you will find an image, links, a map, a photo gallery and attachments to download. The bottom bar with the tabs stays visible (except for an article opened from a notification).

    Open an article

Purpose / when: you want to read the full text of an article, not just the intro from the card.

    1. In the article list, tap the article card, anywhere except the SHARE button. → The article detail opens. At the top are a back arrow and a small heading INFOCHANNEL. If you open the article from elsewhere in the app, the name of that part is there instead, for example HOME, INFO or WARNINGS.
    2. With some articles, wait a moment. → A spinner may briefly appear over the screen while the full text downloads. The article is then filled in.
    3. Read the article by scrolling up and down. → The individual parts of the article appear, as described below.
    4. To open a link in the text, tap it. → The page opens in the browser or in another app on your phone. When you return to Sencito, you find the article detail as you left it.
    5. To return to the list, tap the back arrow at the top, use the system Back button, or swipe from the edge of the screen (iPhone). → The list stays in the same place where you left it.

The article detail can contain, from the top:

    Title
    The heading of the article.
    Date and SHARE
The day of publication in capital letters and the SHARE button, see Share an article. The row is visible only when the article has a date or a web address.
    Category
A coloured chip with the category of the article. It is for information only; tapping it does nothing.
    Image
The main image of the article. Tap it to enlarge it, see View images and the gallery.
    Intro text
A summary of the article at the start. You can tap the links in it.
    Article text
The full text; it can contain formatting, links and tables.
    Map
A small map with a place marker. Only an article that relates to a certain place has one, for example traffic information. The map is only a preview; you cannot zoom it.
    Gallery
Thumbnails of photos, three in a row, see View images and the gallery.
    Attachments
Documents attached to the article, see Open an attachment.

Result: you have the complete text of the article in front of you, including images, the gallery and attachments, if the article has them.

A link that the phone cannot open is silently skipped and nothing happens. On iPhone a web page may open in a window inside the app; closing the window takes you back to the article.

Each part is shown only if the article contains it. Articles can therefore look different.

If downloading the full text fails, a panel with a message, for example "Communication with server failled.", and an OK button appears. The detail keeps the shortened text. Close the panel, go back to the list and open the article again.

The article detail is not refreshed by pulling down. If you tap another tab while reading, the detail stays open in its tab, and when you return to that tab you find it as you left it.

    View images and the gallery

Purpose / when: you want to look at a photo from an article at a larger size or go through the whole gallery.

    1. In the article detail, tap the main image or a photo thumbnail in the gallery. Galleries are square thumbnails, three in a row, usually below the text of the article. → The image opens smoothly full-screen on a dark background. A spinner is visible until it downloads.
    2. To zoom the image in or out, use two fingers or double-tap. Drag a zoomed-in image to move it. → The image enlarges, but at most to its original size.
    3. In a gallery, swipe left or right. → The next or previous photo of the gallery appears. The main image of an article opens on its own, and you cannot page through it.
    4. To see the image in landscape, rotate the phone (auto-rotate must be turned on). → The image adapts to the rotated screen. After you close the viewer, the list and the article detail are again displayed only in portrait.
    5. Close the viewer by tapping the white cross at the top right, or by dragging the image vertically up or down. → You return to the article detail.

Result: you have viewed the photos at full size and returned to the article detail.

You cannot save or share an image from the viewer. The phone's display does not turn off by itself while it is shown.

    Open an attachment

Purpose / when: the article has a document available, for example a PDF with a waste collection schedule or a notice from the office, and you want to read it.

    1. In the article detail, scroll down to the Attachments card. → The card is shown only for articles that have an attachment. Each file is on its own row with a download icon, the file name and an arrow on the right. A file without a name is labelled Document.
    2. Tap the attachment row. → The address of the file is handed to the phone. The file opens or downloads in the phone's browser, or in an app the phone offers for that file type (for example a PDF reader).
    3. After reading, return to the Sencito app in the usual way for your phone (the Back button or app switching). → The article detail is unchanged.

Result: the attachment is opened or downloaded in the app the phone used.

The attachment is not displayed directly in the Sencito app; it is opened by the browser or another app on your phone. Whether and where the file is saved is decided by that app. On iPhone the attachment may open in a window inside the app; closing the window takes you back to the article.

If the phone cannot open the address of the attachment, nothing happens after you tap and no message is shown. Check your internet connection, or install a reader for that file type, for example PDF, and try again.

    Info

The Info tab gathers your municipality's services on tiles: news, weather warnings, traffic information, departures from your stop, planned power outages, a map of places in the municipality and links to websites. Your municipality decides which tiles you see.

    Municipality service tiles

A hub from which you reach all the services of your municipality. The tiles, their names and their icons are set by the municipality, so they may differ from the examples in this guide.

What is in the Info tab

Purpose / when: the Info tab is a hub for the services of your municipality. Open it when you want to see news from the municipality, departures from your stop or planned power outages, find a place in the municipality or open the municipality's website.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap the Info tab. → A large Info heading appears at the top, below it the coat of arms and the name of your municipality, and below them the tiles in two columns. The name of each tile is always below it. A spinner turns in the middle until the tiles load.
    2. Tap the Events, Weather warnings or Traffic information tile. → A list of news opens, see Browse events, warnings and traffic.
    3. Tap the My stop tile. → The nearest departures from your stop open, see View departures.
    4. Tap the Outages tile (in some municipalities, for example, CEZ outages). → A list of planned power outages opens, see Find out about planned outages.
    5. If your municipality has a tile with the map of places (for example POI map; POI stands for "point of interest"), tap it. → A map of offices, shops and other places opens, see Find a place in the municipality.
    6. Tap any other tile. → A web page or a document opens; mostly directly in the app, for some tiles in your phone's browser. See Open a web page or a document. A tile that the municipality left without a link does nothing when you tap it.
    7. Look below the tiles. There may be a small link with the web address of the grant provider. Tap it. → The address opens in your phone's web browser.
    8. To refresh the content, pull the screen down with your finger, or tap the Info tab again while you are already on it. → The tiles load again. See also Refresh data by pulling down.
    Tile
A rounded card with an icon (or logo) and a name below it; names longer than two lines are shortened. The icon, the name and the order are set by the municipality.
Coat of arms and municipality name
The row below the Info heading. It shows whose services you are currently seeing; it corresponds to your main info channel.
    Link below the tiles
Small text aligned to the right with the address of the grant provider. It is shown only if the municipality has provided it.

Result: you see the service tiles of your municipality and can open the one you need.

A different municipality means a different set of tiles. If you change your main info channel (see Change the main info channel (municipality)), the tiles load on their own according to the new municipality.

Instead of the tiles, the text "Could not download data from the server" may appear. It means that the tiles could not be loaded, or that your municipality does not offer any yet. Pull the screen down; if that does not help, read "Could not download data from the server".

The Info tab: the municipality's coat of arms and the service tiles

Open a web page or a document

Purpose / when: the municipality can offer links to its web pages, forms or PDF documents on the tiles. You open them directly in the app, without switching to a browser.

    1. In the Info tab, tap a tile with a link. This is a tile that is not one of the ready-made services (events, stop, outages, map), for example the municipality's website or an official document. → A new screen opens: a back arrow in the top left, next to it the name of the tile, and the page below them. A spinner turns in the middle while the page loads.
    2. Browse the page as in an ordinary browser: scroll it with your finger and tap links. → Links open on the same screen.
    3. If the link is a PDF document, it opens in the built-in document viewer. → Scroll it up and down with your finger; you can zoom with two fingers or by double-tapping.
    4. Tap the back arrow in the top left (on Android you can also use the system Back button). → The screen closes and you return to the tiles. See also Go back and close screens.

Result: the municipality's page or document opened in the app, and after closing it you are back on the tiles.

The screen has no address bar and no Back, Forward or Refresh buttons. The back arrow in the top left closes the whole page at once, not just the last link you opened. Pulling down does not refresh the page.

Tiles that the municipality marked as external do not open in the app but in your phone's web browser. You then return to the Sencito app by switching between apps.

If the page or document does not load (an empty area stays or the spinner keeps turning), check your internet connection, go back with the back arrow and open the tile again. The app shows no message in this case.

    Events, Weather warnings, Traffic information

Three lists of news that the municipality offers: events in the municipality, warnings about bad weather from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) and traffic information. All three work the same way.

    Browse events, warnings and traffic

Purpose / when: you want to know what is going on in the municipality, whether a warning about bad weather is in force or what the traffic situation is (accidents, restrictions).

    1. In the Info tab, tap the Events, Weather warnings or Traffic information tile (the exact names are set by the municipality). → The list opens. At the top are a back arrow and a large heading (Info for events, Warnings for warnings and traffic), below it the coat of arms and the municipality name and a coloured label with the kind of news: green for events, blue for weather warnings, orange for traffic information. A spinner turns in the middle while the data loads.
    2. Browse the list by scrolling up and down with your finger. → Each card shows an image (if there is one), a coloured icon with a bold title, a short text (at most three lines) and, at the bottom, the date in capital letters. If the item has a web address, there is also a SHARE link.
    3. Tap a card. → The detail opens. At the top is a back arrow labelled with the list heading in capital letters (INFO for events, WARNINGS for warnings and traffic), below it the title, the date and the SHARE link, then, depending on the content, an image, the full text, a photo gallery and Attachments. For traffic information with a specified location, a small map with a marker of the place is shown below the text.
    4. In the detail, tap an image, a photo in the gallery, an attachment or a link in the text. → The image enlarges to full screen; the attachment and the link open outside the app (in the browser). For details, see Open an article, View images and the gallery and Open an attachment; the detail of a news item works the same way as the article detail in Info channels.
    5. Tap SHARE (on the card or in the detail). → The system sharing menu opens; choose an app (messages, e-mail…) and the link to the item is sent. See also Share an article.
    6. Scroll the list almost to the end. → The app loads more items on its own (50 at a time); a spinner turns at the bottom while it does so.
    7. Pull the list down with your finger. → The list reloads from the beginning.
    8. Tap the back arrow. → From the detail you return to the list, from the list to the tiles.

Below the municipality name. A green label with a calendar marks events, a blue one with a cloud and lightning marks Weather warnings, an orange one with a car crash marks Traffic information. The label text is the name of the tile.
    Image on the card
Shown only for items that have an image.
    Title and arrow
The bold heading of the item with a coloured icon of its kind; the arrow on the right means that tapping opens the detail.
    Date
The day of publication in capital letters, for example "FRIDAY, 6. NOVEMBER 2026".
    SHARE
A link for sending the web address of the item. It is present only for items that have a web address.

Result: you read the current events, warnings or traffic information of your municipality.

When the municipality has published nothing, an icon with a message is shown instead of cards: for events a calendar and "No events", for warnings a thumbs-up and "No warnings", for traffic a thumbs-up and "No traffic information". An empty list means that the municipality has not published anything yet.

When the list does not load, an icon with an exclamation mark is shown, the text "Could not download data from the server" and below it additional details of the error. There is no Repeat button in this case: pull the list down with your finger, or go back and open the tile again. The Repeat button appears only when loading further items at the end of the list fails. See also "Could not download data from the server".

You cannot search or filter the list. More items load as you scroll down.

    My stop

The nearest departures of buses, trains and trams from the selected stop, including any delay. You can change the stop at any time and the app remembers it.

    View departures

Purpose / when: you want to know when the nearest connection leaves from your stop.

    1. In the Info tab, tap the My stop tile (the name is set by the municipality). → The screen opens. At the top are a back arrow and a large heading (the tile name), below it the Find a stop field. The prompt "Enter a stop name to search" may appear briefly, then a spinner turns and the departures of the stop you selected last are loaded. If you have not selected any, the default stop of your municipality is shown.
    2. Look below the Find a stop field. → The stop name is in bold, below it the Change stop label with a magnifying glass on the right. Below them are the departures, sorted from the nearest; at most 30 departures are shown.
    3. Read a departure row. → From the left: a coloured badge with a vehicle icon and the line number, in the middle the destination of the connection and on the right the departure time, for example 7:05. If the connection is delayed, the delay in minutes is shown in red below the time, for example +3′.
    4. Pull the list down with your finger. → The departures reload.
    5. Tap a departure row. → The trip detail opens, see Trip detail.
    6. Tap the back arrow in the top left. → You return to the tiles.
    Line badge
The line number with a vehicle icon. The icon distinguishes a train, a tram and a bus (the same icon is used for a bus, a city bus and a trolleybus). The colour differs by type of transport (train, tram, trolleybus, city bus, bus); if the line has its own colour, that one is used.
    Destination
The terminus or destination stop of the connection; a long name is shortened to one line.
    Time
The departure time in the form hour:minute with no leading zero on the hour (7:05, 14:30).
    +N′
A red figure below the time, shown only for a delayed connection; N is the delay in minutes.

Result: you see the nearest departures from the selected stop.

When the stop has no departures, a bus icon and the text "No departures" are shown. You will see the same text if the departures could not be loaded. Try refreshing by pulling down, or select the stop again (see Find and select a stop).

If you have not selected any stop and the municipality offers no default one, the screen stays at the prompt "Enter a stop name to search". Then look up a stop following the guide Find and select a stop.

    Find and select a stop

Purpose / when: you want to follow departures from a different stop than the one shown.

    1. On the My stop screen, tap the stop name above the departures (below it is the Change stop label). → The departures disappear and the screen returns to searching. If the field is empty, the prompt "Enter a stop name to search" is shown; if you already searched for a stop during this visit, you see its results again. You can tap anywhere in this block (the name, the label or the magnifying glass). You can also start typing straight into the Find a stop field.
    2. Tap the Find a stop field and type at least 3 characters of the stop name. → After a short pause a spinner turns and then the stops found appear below the field.
    3. Look through the results. → Each stop has a small square with an icon: a coloured vehicle icon if the stop is served by only one type of transport, or a neutral signpost icon if it is served by more. Next to it is the stop name and on the right an arrow.
    4. Tap the stop you want. → Its departures load and the stop is remembered.
    Find a stop
A field with a magnifying glass. Type the stop name or part of it, for example "Square". The search starts only after you have typed at least 3 characters and a short pause (about half a second). At most 30 stops are shown. With fewer than 3 characters the prompt "Enter a stop name to search" is shown; when nothing matches (or the search failed, for example without a connection), "No stops found" is shown.
    Change stop
The label below the name of the stop currently shown, with a magnifying glass on the right. Tapping the stop name (or the label or the magnifying glass) cancels the display of departures and returns you to searching.

Result: you see the departures of the newly selected stop. Next time it opens straight away.

As soon as you start typing in the field or delete the text, the departures of the stop shown so far are hidden after a short pause and replaced by the search. The departures return once you select a stop from the results again.

If you cannot find the stop, try typing just part of the name, for example the first word.

The selected stop is saved on your phone and shown first next time. It stays even after you sign out of the app and is not tied to your account. If you share your phone with someone else, read I share my phone with someone else.

    Trip detail

Purpose / when: you want to know where the connection goes, which stops it has already passed and when it will be at the next ones.

    1. On the My stop screen, tap a departure row. → The trip detail opens. At the top is a back arrow labelled with the name of your stop in capital letters, below it the coloured line badge with the destination of the connection and below them the stops on the route with times. A spinner turns while the data loads.
    2. Look at the stops the connection has yet to serve. → Each has a dot, a name and a time; if the connection is delayed, the delay in minutes is shown in red below the time, for example +3′.
    3. To see the stops the connection has already passed, tap the Passed stops (N) row, where N is their number. → The stops expand below the row and are greyed out. Tap again to collapse them.
    4. Pull the screen down with your finger. → The stops of the connection reload.
    5. Tap the back arrow. → You return to the departures of the stop.

Result: you see the route of the connection with its stops and times.

Some carriers do not provide the sequence of stops. Instead of the stops, the text "Trip detail is not available for this carrier." is then shown with an information icon. You see only the line and the destination; this is not an app error.

The Passed stops row is shown only if some stop has already been passed in the meantime. Which stop counts as passed is determined by the clock on your phone.

When the detail does not load, an icon with an exclamation mark is shown and the text "Could not download data from the server" with details of the error. Pull the screen down, or go back and open the connection again.

    Power outages

An overview of planned interruptions of the electricity supply in your municipality. The data is published by the electricity distributor.

    Find out about planned outages

Purpose / when: you want to know whether and when the electricity supply in your street will be interrupted.

    1. In the Info tab, tap the Outages tile (in some municipalities, for example, CEZ outages). → The list opens. At the top are a back arrow and a large heading, below it the Enter the street to search field and below that collapsed outage cards. The card header shows the date and time the outage starts, for example 5.11.2026 8:00.
    2. Tap an outage card. → The card expands and shows the expected end (to and a date), the affected streets with house numbers, or an area with plot numbers, a description and the More information (PDF) link. Tap again to collapse the card.
    3. Tap More information (PDF). → The distributor's notice opens in your phone's web browser, that is, outside the app.
    4. To find your street, type its name (or part of it) in the Enter the street to search field. → After a short pause the list narrows to the outages that affect the street. Upper or lower case and diacritics do not matter.
    5. Pull the list down with your finger. → The outages reload.
    Enter the street to search
A field with a magnifying glass. It searches in street and area names as well as in numbers; for example "skolni" finds "Školní". Upper or lower case and diacritics do not matter. The field is visible only when the list contains some outages.
    Date in the card header
The start of the outage in the form day.month.year hour:minute.
    to
The expected end of the outage. It is shown only if the distributor has stated it.
obj. num., desc. num., ev. num., parcel num.
The numbers of the affected properties: orientation number, descriptive number, registration number and plot number. The app expands ranges of numbers (for example 5–10) into individual numbers and sorts them.
    Description
Additional text from the distributor, if provided.
    More information (PDF)
A link to the official outage notice. It is shown only if the notice exists.

Result: you find out when and in which streets a power outage is planned.

When there are no planned outages, a thumbs-up icon and two lines are shown: "No scheduled outages" and "for day" with today's date and the current hour (for example for day 5.11.2026 12:00). The search field is not shown in this case. You will see the same message if the municipality has not yet set up outages for its locality.

If the search finds nothing, the list stays empty and the app shows no message. Delete or shorten the search text. After the list narrows, check whether the card you want to read is expanded; if not, tap it.

When the outages cannot be loaded, an icon with an exclamation mark is shown and the text "Could not download data from the server" with details of the error. Pull the screen down, or go back and open the tile again.

    Map of points of interest

A map of offices, shops, pharmacies, schools, playgrounds and other places in the municipality, as entered by the municipality. For each place you can find out whether it is open right now, and find its contacts and opening hours.

Find a place in the municipality

Purpose / when: you are looking for an office, a shop, a pharmacy or another place in the municipality and want to know where it is and whether it is open right now.

    1. In the Info tab, tap the tile with the map of places in the municipality (the name is set by the municipality, for example POI map). → A map opens (the bottom bar stays visible). A spinner turns in the middle until the places load; then the map zooms so that all the places are visible. A back arrow is in the top left. The map has no heading.
    2. Look at the markers on the map. → Each place is marked by a pin with a white icon of the kind of place. A green pin means the place is open right now, a red one that it is closed.
    3. Find a circle with a number. → It marks a group of nearby places; the number is how many there are. The coloured segments show how many places in the group are open (green) and how many are closed (red).
    4. Tap the circle. → The map focuses on the group and zooms in by two levels, so the group splits into smaller groups or individual places.
    5. Move the map by dragging with your finger and zoom in or out with two fingers. → A different part of the municipality is shown. If you have allowed location, you also see a blue dot with your position.
    6. Tap a pin. → The place detail opens, see Opening hours and contacts.
    7. Tap the back arrow in the top left. → The map closes and you return to the tiles.

Result: you see the places in the municipality on the map and know which of them are open right now.

The colour of the pin is calculated from the opening hours and the clock on your phone. A pin is also red for a place whose opening hours the municipality has not provided, so red does not always mean that the place is closed.

The map shows at most 200 places, and only those for which the municipality has entered a location. A place without a location does not appear on the map.

If the places cannot be loaded, only the map is shown, without pins and without a message. Go back with the back arrow and open the map again.

    Opening hours and contacts

Purpose / when: you want to find out when a place is open and how to contact it or get to it.

    1. On the map, tap the pin of a place. → The detail opens. At the top is a back arrow labelled POI MAP, below it a round icon of the kind of place, the name of the place and the opening status with a coloured dot: green if it is open, red if it is closed. Below that is the description of the place (if entered) and the Contacts and Opening hours sections.
    2. Read the opening status. → It may say Open until 18:00 (it is open now; the closing time is shown), Opens at 8:00 (it will still open today at the stated time), Open 24/7 (open around the clock) or Closed.
    3. In the Contacts section, tap the item you want. → The corresponding app opens: maps, e-mail, phone or browser.
    4. In the Opening hours section, find the day you want. → Seven rows, from Monday to Sunday, show for each day the opening times, Open 24/7 or Closed. Today is highlighted in bold and with a coloured background.
    5. Tap the back arrow. → You return to the map.
    Address
Shown only for a place that has a location on the map. Next to it is the address entered for the place, or just the word "Address" if none is given. Tapping it opens the place in maps (Google Maps) in the browser or an app; from there you can start navigation.
    E-mail
Tapping it opens your e-mail app with a new message to this address.
    Phone
Tapping it opens the phone app with the number ready.
    Web
Tapping it opens the place's web page in the browser.
    Facebook
Tapping it opens the place's profile in Facebook or in the browser.
    Opening hours
Monday to Sunday. A day can have one or more time spans in the form from–to (separated by a comma), Open 24/7 or Closed. The section is shown only if the municipality has entered the opening hours.

Result: you know whether the place is open right now and when it opens, and you have its contacts at hand.

Only the details that the municipality filled in for the place are shown. Missing contacts are simply not displayed.

The Closed status is also shown when the place has already finished for today. Tomorrow's opening is not given in the status; you will find it in the Opening hours section in the row of the next day.

If nothing opens after you tap an e-mail or phone item, your phone does not have a suitable app (for example an e-mail client or a phone app).

    Profile

In the Profile tab you set your details, the appearance of the app, and where and how messages reach you. It also contains password change, logout, account deletion and basic information about the app. This chapter describes the citizen's Profile; a municipality administrator (who signs in with a username that is not an e-mail address) sees a shorter version without the message settings and information sources.

    Personal details

Here you edit your name or profile name, your phone number and the notification language. The e-mail you sign in with is only shown in the app and cannot be changed.

    Open Profile

Purpose / when: you want to change your details, set up message delivery, manage information sources or log out.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap the Profile tab. → The My Profile screen opens. At the top right is Logout. Below the heading is a form with the fields Name or profile name, E-mail, the prefix and Phone, then the rows Notification language and Appearance and the buttons Save, Change password and Delete account.
    2. Scroll the screen up with your finger. → Below the form are the sections Notifications, Main info channel and Other sources of information. At the very bottom you will find Terms of service, License and the Version number.
    3. Wait a moment. → The app downloads the current message delivery settings from the internet. The switches may therefore flip by themselves to their real state after a moment, for example if you changed a subscription elsewhere (on the web, on another phone or via a link in an e-mail).

Result: you see your details and all the account settings on one screen.

You can reload the current state by pulling the content down with your finger, see Refresh data by pulling down.

The Notifications, Main info channel and Other sources of information sections are visible to citizens only. What a municipality administrator sees is described in Administrator's Profile and info channels.

The app version number at the end of the page comes in handy when you contact support about a problem.

    Change name and phone

Purpose / when: you want to change your name or profile name, or add or correct the phone number that text messages can be sent to.

    1. Tap the Name or profile name field and type your name or profile name. → The text changes only in the form; nothing is sent to the server yet.
    2. Tap the prefix to the left of the Phone field. Until you choose one, it shows "--". → A panel appears with the options +420, +421 and +48 and a Close button.
    3. Tap the prefix you need. → The panel closes and the prefix appears in the form. The Close button closes the panel without any change.
    4. Tap the Phone field and type nine digits. → The numeric keyboard opens.
    5. Tap Save. → The app first checks the phone number. If everything is fine, the data is sent and the message "Data saved successfully" briefly appears at the bottom. If the phone number is wrong or the prefix is missing, a window with a message and an OK button appears. Tap OK, correct the entry and tap Save again.
    Name or profile name
Any text. The field is not required and the app does not check its length.
    E-mail
Read-only, it cannot be edited. The link for changing the password is sent to this e-mail.
    Prefix
You can choose +420, +421 or +48; the app offers no other prefixes. If you have filled in a phone number, you must choose a prefix. Otherwise the message "Select a phone number prefix." appears.
    Phone
The field is not required: you can leave it empty. Otherwise write exactly 9 digits, without spaces, brackets or other characters and without the prefix. A phone number that does not have exactly 9 digits (for example one with spaces or brackets) is rejected with the message "Only numbers are allowed."

Result: your name and phone number are saved and after you tap Save, "Data saved successfully" appears. The saved number is used for text messages.

The Save button sends the whole form at once, including any change of the notification language (see Notification language).

Text messages are sent only to a saved phone number. Until you tap Save after filling in the number, you cannot turn on SMS for the main info channel, see How you want to receive messages.

If saving fails (for example when the connection drops), a window with an error appears, e.g. "Communication with server failled." Check your connection and tap Save again.

    Notification language

Purpose / when: you want the e-mails, text messages and notifications from the app to reach you in a different language.

    1. In Profile, tap the Notification language row (it shows the language currently selected, with the label Notification language above it) or the arrow at its end. → A panel appears with the options Czech, English, Polish and a Close button.
    2. Tap the language you want. → The panel closes and the row shows the selected language. The change exists only in the form for now.
    3. Tap Save. → "Data saved successfully" briefly appears at the bottom. Your next messages will arrive in the selected language.
    Notification language
Czech, English or Polish. No other languages are available.

Result: e-mails, text messages and notifications from the server arrive in the selected language.

This setting does not change the language of the texts in the app. The app uses the language of your phone, see App language.

You can close the panel without any change with the Close button. Until you tap Save, nothing changes on the server.

    Appearance (light / dark mode)

The app can use light or dark colours. This choice applies to this phone only.

Switch between light and dark appearance

Purpose / when: the dark appearance is easier on the eyes in the evening; the light one is easier to read in daylight.

    1. In Profile, tap the Appearance row. The row shows the current choice, initially System. → A panel appears with three options and a Close button.
    2. Tap Light, Dark or System. → The panel closes and the whole app changes colours immediately. You do not need the Save button.
    Light
The app always uses light colours.
    Dark
The app always uses dark colours.
    System
The app follows your phone settings and switches along with them.

Result: the appearance of the app changed immediately and is remembered on this phone.

The choice is stored only on the phone, not in your account. Set it separately on another phone.

When you log out, the saved choice is deleted and the next time the app starts, System applies again.

    Notifications and message delivery

Only citizens see these settings. The switches and checkboxes in this part are saved immediately when you tap them; you do not need the Save button. "Data saved successfully" briefly appears at the bottom. If saving fails, a window with an error appears and the switch returns to its real state.

    System notifications

Purpose / when: you want to turn on or off the sensor alerts that the municipality or administrator has set up for all users of a device (for example when a set value is exceeded).

    1. In Profile, go to the Notifications section. → You see the System notifications switch and an explanatory text below it.
    2. Tap the switch. → The switch flips immediately and after a moment the change is saved ("Data saved successfully").
    System notifications
On or off. Initially it is on. Alerts arrive by e-mail and in the app.

Result: the alerts that the municipality or administrator has set up for sensors are delivered to you, or not, depending on the position of the switch.

Turning it off does not turn off messages from info channels or your own alerts that you set in the sensor detail (see Choose how an alert reaches you).

For alerts to actually reach you in the app, notifications must also be allowed in your phone settings. This is a separate system setting, see Allow notifications.

How you want to receive messages

Purpose / when: you want to decide whether messages from an information source (municipality) should arrive by e-mail, in the app or by text message. Each source has its own settings.

    1. In Profile, go to the Main info channel or Other sources of information section. → Each source has its own card with a name. Below the name is the text How you want to receive messages: and three rows with switches: E-mail, Application and SMS.
    2. Look at the SMS row. → The switch is there only for the main source and only when you have a saved phone number. Otherwise the row shows an explanation on the right: Add and save a phone number (main source, phone missing) or Main channel only (other sources).
    3. Tap the switch for the delivery method you want. → The switch flips immediately and after a moment the change is saved ("Data saved successfully").
    E-mail
Messages from the source reach you at your account e-mail. Initially on.
    Application
Messages from the source arrive as notifications on your phone. Initially on. Requires notifications to be allowed in your phone settings.
    SMS
Messages from the source arrive as text messages to your saved phone number. Main source only and only with a saved phone number. Unless you have turned it off, the switch is on.

Result: messages from the source reach you only in the ways you selected.

Cannot turn on SMS? First fill in the prefix and phone number in Profile and tap Save (see Change name and phone). The SMS switch appears only after the number is saved. You will find more information in Cannot turn on SMS.

It can happen that a source is listed as both the main and an additional one. Then its SMS row shows the text Main channel only even though the source is the main one, and the switch is missing. Such a source is not shown in the Other sources of information section. Tap Save: your account details are sent again and the source stops being listed among the other sources, so the SMS switch appears.

For a turned-off additional source, the delivery rows and the groups are not shown, see Turn off or remove another source.

You can tap the switches quickly one after another; the changes are saved in sequence. If messages do not arrive in the app, also check the notifications in your phone settings, see Allow notifications.

    Groups you are interested in

Purpose / when: an information source can divide its messages into groups (for example waste or culture). You choose the ones you want to be informed about.

    1. In the source card, find the text Information from public groups: → Below it is a list of groups, each with a checkbox.
    2. Tap a group. → The checkmark toggles: a checked group is subscribed, an unchecked one is not. The change is saved immediately ("Data saved successfully").
    Group
Checked or unchecked. You can choose any combination of groups.

Result: you will receive messages only from the groups that are checked.

The list of groups is shown only for sources that offer groups, and only for sources that are turned on.

Along with the change of groups, the data currently filled in the form at the top (name, phone and notification language) is saved as well. The phone number is not checked in the process, so it is better to save the form first with the Save button.

    Information sources

An information source is a municipality, town or organization whose messages you want to receive. You have one main source (usually your municipality) and you can add other sources. Only citizens see this part of Profile. Every change of sources (changing the main source, adding, turning off, turning on or removing another source) is saved together with the data currently filled in the form at the top (name, phone and notification language). The phone number is not checked in the process.

Change the main info channel (municipality)

Purpose / when: you have moved or you want a different municipality, town or organization as your main info channel.

    1. In the Main info channel section, tap the name of the source or the pencil icon. → The Change main info channel window slides up from the bottom with a search field. The keyboard opens.
    2. Type at least 3 characters of the name of the municipality, town or organization. → After a short moment a list of the sources found appears, each with a name, a description and an arrow. With fewer than three characters the list is not shown.
    3. Tap the source you want. → A second window opens with the name of the source and a list of groups under the text Information from public groups: All groups are checked in advance. If the source offers no groups, the list is missing. A progress indicator may appear briefly.
    4. Uncheck the groups you do not want to subscribe to. → The checkboxes toggle.
    5. Tap Done. → Both windows close, the new source replaces the current main info channel and the change is saved ("Data saved successfully"). The articles and information in the app load for the new source.
    Search term
The name of the municipality, town or organization. The search starts at 3 characters.
    Groups
Checkboxes; all are checked initially. Uncheck the ones you do not want.

Result: the card in the Main info channel section shows the new source and the groups you selected.

You cancel the change by tapping the cross at the top right or the back arrow. The process closes and the main info channel stays unchanged.

The change removes the current main info channel from your account. If you want to keep receiving its messages, add it as another source, see Add another source of information. Text messages come only from the main info channel, so the change also changes where your text messages come from.

If you cannot find the source you are looking for, the app shows no message; the list simply stays empty. Check for typos and try a different part of the name.

Under the name of the source in the second window is the text "Your secondary info channel". Do not let it confuse you: with the Done button you are setting the main info channel. If the window cannot be prepared, the message "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons.

The next time you start the app, it may ask you to agree to the terms of the new source, see Confirm the new terms.

    Add another source of information

Purpose / when: besides your own municipality you also want to receive messages from other municipalities or organizations, for example where you have a cottage or relatives.

    1. In the Other sources of information section, tap the Add source button. If you do not have any other source yet, you see the text "No sources" and "You don't have any secondary info channel picked yet." there. If you already have some, tap Add another source below their list. → The Add secondary info channel window slides up from the bottom with a search field.
    2. Type at least 3 characters of the name and tap the source found. → A second window opens with the name of the source, the text "Your secondary info channel" and a list of groups under the text Information from public groups:, all checked in advance. If the source offers no groups, the list is missing.
    3. Uncheck the groups you do not want and tap Done. → The window closes, the source is added as a new card and the change is saved ("Data saved successfully").
    Search term
The name of the municipality, town or organization. The search starts at 3 characters.
    Groups
    Checkboxes; all are checked initially.

Result: a card of the new source with delivery switches and groups has been added to the Other sources of information section. You will find the source's messages in the Info channel tab, see Switch channel.

The back arrow in the second window returns you to the search; nothing is added. The cross at the top right closes the whole process.

For another source you can turn messages by e-mail and in the app on or off, see How you want to receive messages. SMS is available only for the main info channel. You can turn the source off or remove it later, see Turn off or remove another source.

Turn off or remove another source

Purpose / when: you no longer want to follow another source. You can just turn it off (it stays in the list and can be turned on again), or remove it completely.

    1. For the other source, tap the switch to the right of its name. → A panel slides up from the bottom with the options Deactivate item, Remove item (in red) and Cancel.
    2. Tap one of the options. → The panel closes and the chosen action is carried out. The change is saved ("Data saved successfully").
    Deactivate item
The source is no longer subscribed but stays in the list with the switch turned off. Its delivery rows and groups disappear. You can turn it on again later.
    Remove item
The source disappears from the list and from your subscribed sources. You can add it again later.
    Cancel
The panel closes and the source stays on, unchanged.

Result: the source is turned off, removed, or left unchanged, depending on your choice.

By removing a source you stop receiving its messages. To receive them again, you must add the source from scratch, see Add another source of information.

The list of turned-off sources is remembered only on this phone. After you log out, or on another phone, turned-off sources do not appear in the list.

If after tapping Cancel the switch is still shown as off, the source is nevertheless still on. Reload the Profile content by pulling it down with your finger.

Turn a deactivated source back on

Purpose / when: you want to receive messages again from a source that you turned off earlier with the Deactivate item option.

    1. In the Other sources of information section, find the source with the switch turned off and tap the switch. → The source turns on immediately, with no further prompt. The change is saved ("Data saved successfully") and the text How you want to receive messages: with the switches and, if the source offers them, the list of groups appear again for the source.

Result: the source is on again and its messages reach you again.

The list of turned-off sources is stored only on this phone. After you log out, or on another phone, you will not find the turned-off source in the list. To subscribe to it again, add it by following Add another source of information.

After turning it on, check the delivery methods and groups of the source, see How you want to receive messages.

    Password, logout and account deletion

You will find these options in the upper part of Profile: logout at the top right, password change and account deletion below the form.

    Change password

Purpose / when: you want to set a new password. You do not enter the new password in the app but on a web page that a link from an e-mail takes you to.

    1. In Profile, tap Change password. → A prompt Password change slides up from the bottom with the text "We will send you a link on your e-mail, which you will use to change password in app." and the buttons Cancel and Send.
    2. Tap Send. → A link is sent to your account e-mail. A window Link sent appears with the text "Link sent." and a Close button.
    3. Open the e-mail and tap the link. → A web page opens where you enter the new password.
    4. Next time, sign in with the new password.
    E-mail
The link is always sent to the e-mail shown in Profile (the field is read-only). If the e-mail were empty, then after you tap Change password the message "E-mail is required." with an OK button appears instead of the prompt.

Result: a link arrives at your account e-mail. The password changes only after you enter the new password on the web page; until then the original one applies.

The Cancel button closes the prompt and nothing is sent. If sending fails, a message appears, for example "Communication with server failled." Try again in a moment.

E-mail did not arrive? Check your spam folder. You use the same procedure when you forget your password before signing in, see Forgotten password.

An account signed in via Google or Apple does not use a password, see I sign in with Google/Apple and the app asks for a password.

    Log out

Purpose / when: you want to end the sign-in on this phone, for example before lending the phone or when switching to another account.

    1. In Profile, tap Logout at the top right. → The Logout window slides up from the bottom with the question "Do you really want to log out?" and the buttons Cancel and OK.
    2. Tap OK. → The app logs you out and shows the start screen with sign-in. With Cancel you stay signed in.

Result: you are logged out and you see the start screen. You must sign in again before using the app further.

After logout, the sign-in is deleted from the phone, together with the appearance choice, the collapsed sensor groups and the list of turned-off information sources. Favourite sensors and the selected stop stay on the phone and you will see them again after you sign in again to the same account.

If you sign in via Google or Apple, you can choose a different account the next time you sign in after logging out.

    Delete account

Purpose / when: you no longer want to use Sencito and want to permanently delete your account and the data connected with it.

    1. In Profile, tap the red Delete account button. → The Delete account window slides up from the bottom. For an account with a password it says "To delete your account, please enter your password." For an account signed in via Google or Apple it says "Do you really want to permanently and irreversibly delete your account?" and no password is entered.
    2. For an account with a password, tap the Enter password field and type your password. With the eye icon at the right of the field you show or hide the password. → The password is masked in the field.
    3. Tap the red Delete account irreversibly button. → The app shows a progress indicator for a moment, the account is deleted, the app logs you out and shows the start screen.
    Enter password
The password of your account, required. The field is not shown for accounts signed in via Google or Apple. If the field is empty, the message "Password is a required field" appears. If the password is wrong, the app shows a message from the server, for example "The user password is incorrect". If the app cannot reach the server, "Communication with server failled." appears. Both messages have an OK button, the account is kept and you can try again.

Result: the account is deleted, you are logged out and you see the start screen.

Deleting an account cannot be undone. After you tap Delete account irreversibly, the app does not ask anything more. An account signed in via Google or Apple is deleted after this single tap.

You cancel the deletion with the Cancel button below the red button or with the cross at the top right. Nothing is deleted then.

If you only want to stop receiving messages, it is enough to turn off the individual delivery methods, see How you want to receive messages, or to log out, see Log out.

    About the app

At the end of Profile you will find links to the terms of service and to the list of libraries used. The app version number is at the very bottom.

    Terms of service

Purpose / when: you want to read the current service document.

    1. Scroll Profile all the way down and tap Terms of service. → The document opens directly in the app with the title "Terms of service". You can scroll the document with your finger.
    2. Tap the arrow at the top left. → You return to Profile.

Result: you have the current service document in front of you.

If nothing happens after you tap, the app has not yet loaded all the data. Wait a moment, refresh the content by pulling it down if needed, and tap again.

    License

Purpose / when: you want to know which third-party libraries the app uses and under which licenses.

    1. In Profile, tap License. → The Open Source Licenses page opens with a list of the libraries used. Each has a name, a version and a short description.
    2. Tap a library. → Its description, a link to the home page (opens in the browser) and the full text of the license are shown.
    3. Tap the back arrow to return to the list and from there to Profile.

Result: you see the list of the libraries used and the text of their licenses.

This page is always in English, regardless of the app's language.

    For municipality administrators

Municipality administrators sign in to the app with a username without the @ character (a municipality administrator account, SCC for short) instead of an e-mail address. The app then shows them a simplified version: without municipality articles on Home, without sharing and public sensors, and without notification settings. This chapter describes how the administrator's app differs from the citizen's.

    Administrator login

An administrator signs in on the same screens as a citizen. The only difference is what they type into the first field: instead of an e-mail, they enter the administrator username.

    Sign in as an administrator

Purpose / when: You want to sign in to the app with a municipality administrator account instead of a citizen's e-mail. You sign in when you first start the app and again after logging out.

    1. On the start screen, Login / Register, tap the Enter your e-mail field and type your administrator username. The username must not contain the @ character. → The field is shared by citizens and administrators. From the missing @ character, the app recognises that an administrator is signing in. The Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple buttons above the field are intended for citizens; administrators do not use them.
    2. Tap Next. → The Login screen opens straight away. For an administrator, the app does not check whether the account exists and does not offer registration.
    3. In the Enter password field, type your password. → The cursor is already in this field when the screen opens. The eye icon on the right of the password field shows or hides the password (see Show or hide the password).
    4. Tap Login (you can also confirm the password on the keyboard). → The app signs you in and opens Home. The selection of a municipality (the main info channel) that a citizen has to go through is not shown to an administrator.
Username (the "Enter your e-mail" field)
The name of the municipality administrator account, without the @ character. The field is required; if it is empty, a panel with the message "Email is a required field" appears. You type the username on the start screen; on the Login screen it is pre-filled and you can correct it there.
    Password (the "Enter password" field)
The password of the administrator account. The field is required; if it is empty, the message "Password is a required field" appears. The eye icon shows or hides the password.

Result: You are signed in as an administrator and Home opens. The bottom bar offers the tabs Home, Sensors, Info channel, Info and Profile. The app remembers your sign-in until you log out or it expires.

Tip: If the username or password is wrong, a panel with a message from the server appears (see Message with text from the server). Check both the username and the password and try again. If the app cannot connect to the server, the message "Communication with server failled." appears with the OK and Repeat buttons. Errors in empty fields are summarised by the panel described in Panel with a list of form errors.

Tip: If the username you entered contains the @ character, the app treats it as a citizen's e-mail and may offer to register a new account. Use the back arrow to return to the start screen and enter the username without the @ character. Citizen sign-in by e-mail is described in Sign in with e-mail and password.

Note: The Have you forgotten your password? link on the Login screen is intended for citizen accounts with an e-mail. For an administrator account, use the SCC administration on the web.

Note: When your sign-in expires, the Login recovery screen appears, see Sign in again after expiry. After you sign in, the app may ask you to confirm the current terms, see Confirm the new terms.

    What the administrator sees differently

After signing in, the app looks similar to the citizen's version. However, it lacks the parts that concern citizens only: municipality articles on Home, sharing and public sensors, and notification and information source settings. Everything else behaves the same, and the following sections contain links to the detailed guides.

    Administrator's Home

Purpose / when: You want to see your favourite sensors on a single screen. The administrator's Home is simpler than the citizen's Home.

    1. Tap the Home tab in the bottom bar (it opens by itself after you sign in). → At the top is the Home heading. Unlike for a citizen, there is no block with municipality articles and no Map of public sensors button. Home shows only favourite sensors.
    2. If you have no favourite sensors, the card Here you will see your favorite sensors appears with the hint "To set your favorite sensors, click the star icon in the sensor list." → The card disappears as soon as you mark a sensor with a star.
    3. Tap the Sensors tab and tap the star on the right of a sensor (see Mark a sensor as favourite). → The star fills in and the sensor appears on Home in the My sensors block.
    4. You read a sensor tile the same way as a citizen does (see Read a sensor tile). Tapping the heading of the My sensors block collapses or expands the block (see Collapse or expand a group); tapping a tile opens the sensor detail (see Open the sensor detail).

Result: The administrator's Home shows only the favourite sensors of your account, or a card with a hint if you have none.

Tip: A sensor that you do not see on Home probably does not have its star filled in. You will find other possible reasons in Why don't I see a sensor on Home?. When an account signs in for the first time, some sensors may be added to favourites automatically.

Tip: You refresh Home by dragging your finger down from the top edge, see Refresh data by pulling down.

Administrator's sensors and creating a sensor

Purpose / when: You want to browse the sensors your account has access to, or create a new sensor. An administrator creates a sensor without a licence number.

    1. Tap the Sensors tab. → At the top are the Sensors heading and the Map button on the right. Below them is the My sensors heading with groups of sensors. There you will find only the sensors that your account owns or that are assigned to it.
    2. Notice that the My / Shared / My share switch is missing. → The list has just one part. Sharing sensors and adding a public sensor are not available in the administrator version.
    3. Tap a group name to expand it (see Expand a sensor group). Tap a sensor to open its detail (see Open the sensor detail). The star on the right of a sensor adds it to or removes it from favourites (see Mark a sensor as favourite).
    4. Tap Map. → A map opens with the sensors that have a location set (see Show sensors on the map).
    5. Below the list, tap Add new sensor. → The Create new sensor form opens straight away. The Create new sensor / Add public sensor menu that a citizen sees is not shown. The form has no Licence number field.
    6. In the Sensor identifier field, type the device identifier, or tap the QR icon on the right of the field and scan the code (see Scan a QR code). → When you leave the field, the app verifies the identifier on the server and fills in the Sensor type field by itself.
    7. In the Sensor name field, type the name under which you will see the sensor in the list.
    8. Tap the Group row and select a group (see Select the sensor group). If none fits, choose New group (see Create a new group). → The name of the selected group appears in the row.
    9. Optionally, turn on the Sensor location switch. → A map preview appears. Tap it to open the full map and set the location (see Set the sensor location).
    10. Optionally, tap the Mark as favourite row. → The star fills in and the sensor appears on Home after it is created.
    11. Tap Add. → If the data is correct, the sensor is created, the form closes and the sensor list refreshes. If some data is missing, a panel with messages appears.
    Sensor identifier
The unique device identifier from the label or the QR code. Required, at least 16 characters. It can be scanned with the QR icon. Message: "Identifier must contain 16 or more characters."
    Sensor name
Any non-empty text. Message: "Sensor name is required."
    Group
One of the existing groups, or a newly created group. The selection is required. Message: "Sensor group is required."
    Sensor type
A read-only field. You cannot fill it in by hand; the app fills it in based on the identifier. Message: "Sensor type is required".
    Sensor location
A switch, optional. When turned on, a map preview appears and the location of the sensor is saved together with the sensor. If you do not change the location on the map, the default map location is saved. The switch is off by default.
    Mark as favourite
A star, optional. A filled star adds the sensor to favourites after it is created. Favourites are stored only on this phone.

Result: The new sensor is created without a licence, and you will find it in the My sensors list in the selected group.

Caution: Tapping Add really creates the sensor. Close a form you do not want to submit with the cross in the top right; nothing is created then.

Tip: The panel with messages lists all errors at once. For an empty form these are "Identifier must contain 16 or more characters.", "Sensor name is required.", "Sensor group is required." and "Sensor type is required". Fill in the data and tap Add again.

Tip: If the identifier you entered does not exist, a message from the server appears. If nothing happens after you tap Add and no message appears, the app did not recognise the sensor type, see The Add / Done button does nothing. If the sensor cannot be created, a panel with the error text and the OK button appears.

Note: If you tap Add before the app has verified the identifier, it verifies it first (a loading indicator is shown briefly) and only then creates the sensor.

Note: Below the list of sensors there is also the Sensors offer card, which opens the online shop in the browser (see Get your own sensor). You refresh the list by dragging your finger down.

    Administrator's sensor detail

Purpose / when: You want to find out a sensor's current values, browse the charts or edit the sensor's parameters. The administrator's detail has no Notice tab.

    1. In the Sensors list or on Home, tap a sensor. → Its detail opens. At the top are the back arrow and, on the right, the favourite star (see Add to favourites from the detail). Below them are the sensor name with its group and a row with the time of the last message and the sensor status.
    2. If there is a pencil next to the name, it is your own sensor. Tap the pencil to open the Sensor edit form (see Edit the name, group or location). → The sensor identifier cannot be changed. You confirm changes with the Save button. The form also offers the Delete sensor button (see Delete a sensor).
    3. The Information tab shows the current values, charts and other sensor data, just as for a citizen (see Current values and Change the chart period). → The tab switch above the content appears only when the detail has at least two tabs.
    4. The Notice tab is missing. → In the administrator version of the app, you do not set alerts for exceeded values.
    5. The Settings tab appears only for your own sensor that has adjustable parameters. You change the values following the guides Change a parameter with options, Change a numeric or text parameter, Change a date, Switch a parameter on/off and Weekly locking / switching-on schedule. → The changes you make are sent only after you tap Save in the bottom bar, which also holds the Discard button (see Save changes).

Result: The administrator's detail contains the Information tab and, depending on the sensor, also the Settings tab. The Notice tab is not shown.

Tip: If the Settings tab is missing, the sensor either has no adjustable parameters or is not among your own sensors.

Note: If you leave Settings with unsaved changes, the app asks "You have unsaved changes. Save them?". Done saves the changes; Cancel closes the question and you stay in the detail. See The unsaved changes question.

    Administrator's Profile and info channels

Purpose / when: You want to read info channel articles, change the app's appearance or log out. The administrator's Profile is shorter than the citizen's Profile.

    1. Tap the Info channel tab. → The articles of the selected channel are shown. The municipality's main channel is shown first, and if none is marked, the first channel in alphabetical order. You switch channels by tapping the channel name at the top. The menu contains all channels the administrator has access to, not just the main one and selected other sources as for a citizen. Then follow the guides Read news articles, Switch channel and Filter by category.
    2. Tap the Profile tab. → At the top is the My Profile heading and, on the right, Logout. Below them is a form with the fields Name or profile name, E-mail (read-only), Phone, Notification language and Appearance, and with the buttons Save, Change password and Delete account. The fields and the Save button work the same as for a citizen (see Change name and phone); the layout of the form is described in Open Profile.
    3. Scroll the page down. → Unlike for a citizen, the Notifications, Main info channel and Other sources of information sections are not there. Only Terms of service, License and Version remain at the bottom. So you do not set the way articles are delivered in the administrator's Profile.
    4. Tap the Appearance row and choose Light, Dark or System (see Switch between light and dark appearance). → The change applies immediately.

Result: You know the differences between the administrator's Profile and the citizen's Profile, and you know where to find the articles of all the channels you have access to.

Caution: The Change password and Delete account buttons are visible in the administrator's Profile but are intended for citizens. Do not use them for an administrator account; use the SCC administration on the web. If the E-mail field is empty, Change password reports "E-mail is required.". Deleting an account is irreversible: Delete account opens the Delete account screen, where, after you enter the password, the Delete account irreversibly button deletes the account permanently.

Tip: You log out with the Logout button in the top right and by confirming the question "Do you really want to log out?" with OK, see Log out. The app then returns to the start screen.

Note: The mobile app does not have the advanced administrator functions of the web (filters, hierarchy, sensor replacement, service). Use the SCC web administration.

    Troubleshooting and FAQ

This chapter explains what the messages shown by the Sencito app when something goes wrong mean and what to do about them. The second part answers the most common questions, for example why a sensor is missing from Home, why notifications do not arrive or why SMS cannot be turned on.

    Error messages

The app reports problems in a panel that slides up from the bottom of the screen. It has a warning icon (a triangle with an exclamation mark; red in light mode, light in dark mode), the message text and an OK button. Sometimes there is also a Repeat button next to it, which performs the action that failed again. Below you will find the meaning of each message and what to do about it.

    “Communication with server failled.”

Purpose / when: The app received no response from the server. Most often the phone has no connection, the service has a brief outage, or the response takes longer than 30 seconds.

    1. Read the message in the panel that slid up from the bottom of the screen. → Below the text is the OK button, sometimes with Repeat next to it.
    2. Check your connection: turn on Wi-Fi or mobile data, turn off airplane mode and make sure you have a signal. → The connection works if any web page opens in the phone's browser.
    3. If the panel has a Repeat button, tap it. → The panel closes and the app performs the action again. If it fails a second time, the panel appears again.
    4. If the panel has no Repeat button, tap OK and repeat the action yourself, that is, tap again the button you started it with. → The panel closes and you return to the screen you were on.

Result: Once the connection is restored, the action goes through and the message no longer appears.

Note: The app offers the Repeat button when logging in, registering, verifying the email, adding a public sensor, removing a shared item in Sensors, loading the terms of service during registration, when choosing or changing the main info channel, and when loading data after the app starts or after login. For other actions, for example saving a sensor or sending a sharing invitation, the panel has only OK.

Tip: The message can also appear when the server managed to carry out your change and only the response did not reach you. If it appeared after a long wait while saving or sending, check whether the change went through before trying again. Otherwise you could do it twice, for example send two sharing invitations.

Tip: The message keeps recurring although your connection works? Try again in a moment, it may be a short service outage. If the problem persists, contact your municipality or support.

Error panel with the text “Communication with server failled.” and the OK and Repeat buttons
Panel with the OK and Repeat buttons

    “Check your internet connection.”

Purpose / when: The app could not establish a connection to the server and the phone probably has no working internet connection. The message appears when the app starts, after login, when refreshing data by pulling down, and in Profile when saving. It appears only for some connection failures, for example Wi-Fi without internet access or an interrupted connection. When the connection is lost completely, the app usually reports “Communication with server failled.” or “Could not download data from the server”. The procedure is the same in all three cases.

    1. Turn on Wi-Fi or mobile data and turn off airplane mode. → A connection symbol appears in the phone's top bar.
    2. Continue according to where the message appeared:
      • After the app starts or after login, the panel has only the Repeat button. Tap it. → The app downloads the data again and continues, see Starting without a connection.
      • After pulling down on Home, Sensors or Info channel, tap OK and pull the screen down again, see Refresh data by pulling down. → The data loads.
      • In Profile, tap OK and repeat the change, for example tap Save again. → The change is saved and “Data saved successfully” appears.

Result: Once the connection is restored, the data loads and the message disappears.

Tip: The message can also appear when Wi-Fi is on but has no internet access (for example a public network where you must sign in first). Switch the phone to mobile data or sign in to the network.

Note: Without a connection, the app more often shows “Communication with server failled.”, see “Communication with server failled.”, or “Could not download data from the server”, see “Could not download data from the server”. The procedure is the same: restore the connection and repeat the action.

“Could not download data from the server”

Purpose / when: The app did not receive content from the server, for example tiles, events, departures or outages. It happens when the connection drops, the response is slow, or there are problems on the service side. The message is displayed in several ways, depending on where you are.

    1. Did a panel with only a Repeat button appear (this happens when the app starts and after login)? Tap Repeat. → The panel closes and the app downloads the data again. If it fails again, the panel reappears. Check your connection and tap Repeat once more.
    2. Do you see the message in the middle of the screen, for example in the Info tab, in the Events, Weather warnings and Traffic information lists, in CEZ outages, in the connection detail or in the detail of some sensors? Pull the screen down with your finger and release. → The app loads the content again, see Refresh data by pulling down. In the lists, outages and connection detail, the message has a warning icon and a line with a technical description may appear below it. It is meant for support, you do not need to understand it.
    3. Did the message appear in a panel after pulling down on Home, Sensors or Info channel? Tap OK and try again in a moment. → The panel has no Repeat button. The app stays in the state it was in before the attempt.
    4. Did a Repeat button appear at the end of an article list (Info channel, Events, Weather warnings, Traffic information) after you scrolled down? Tap it. → The app tries to load more articles again.

Result: After a successful load, the message goes away and the content is displayed.

Caution: Do not close a panel with a single Repeat button by pulling it down or by tapping outside the panel. The app would then keep waiting and could not continue. Always tap Repeat.

Tip: In My stop, a failed load may show “No departures” instead of an error. Pull the list down and try again, see View departures.

Tip: After pulling down, the header may show “Refresh complete” when you release, even though the refresh failed. What matters is whether the panel with the message appeared.

Tip: The message persists although your connection works? The error may be on the server side. Try later, or contact your municipality or support.

Message with text from the server

Purpose / when: The server received your request but rejected it. The panel then contains text written by the server. This applies, for example, to an incorrect password, a sensor you have already added, or a missing permission.

    1. Read the message text in the panel. → It says what the server rejected. With a wrong password, for example, it tells you that the password is not correct.
    2. Tap OK. → The panel closes and you stay on the same screen.
    3. Correct the data the message refers to (for example the password or the sensor identifier) and repeat the action. → If the data is correct, the action goes through.

Result: After you correct the data, the action goes through and the message no longer appears.

Note: These messages usually have only an OK button, because repeating the same action with the same data would end the same way. The Repeat button appears with them only when loading data after the app starts or after login, and when loading the terms of service.

Tip: The wording of the message is determined by the server. It is in Czech, English or Polish depending on the phone language; with any other phone language it is in English.

Tip: Don't know your password? On the login screen tap Have you forgotten your password?, see Forgotten password.

Tip: If only a short technical label appears instead of understandable text, the server wrote nothing about the error. Try the action later. If that does not help, contact your municipality or support.

Note: If your login expires, no panel appears. The app itself opens the Login recovery screen, see Log in again after expiry.

Panel with text from the server

    “Sign-in failed. Please try again.”

Purpose / when: Signing in with the Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple button could not be completed. The message appears when, after you signed in in the browser, the sign-in could not be completed in the app, most often because of a weak or interrupted connection.

    1. Tap OK. → The panel closes and you stay on the Login / Register start screen.
    2. Check your internet connection, see “Check your internet connection.” → The phone is connected.
    3. Tap Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple again. → A browser window with the sign-in opens.
    4. Sign in in the browser window. If it asks about sharing your email, allow it, the app needs to know the account's email. Wait until the browser returns to the app on its own. → The app completes the sign-in and opens Home or, on the first sign-in, the municipality selection.

    Result: You are signed in.

Note: If you close the browser window without completing the sign-in, you return to the start screen without a message. This is not an error, just tap the button again.

Tip: If the panel contains a different text than this one, it was written by the server. Follow it, see Message with text from the server. The sign-in procedure is described in Sign in with Google or Apple.

Panel with a list of errors in a form

Purpose / when: You tap a form button (for example Next, Login, Register, Add or Save) and some field is not filled in correctly. The app does not submit the form and shows a panel that lists everything that needs to be corrected.

    1. Read the panel that slid up from the bottom of the screen. → Each error has its own line with a warning icon and text. The errors are listed all at once, you do not have to correct them one by one.
    2. Tap OK. → The panel closes and the form stays filled in as you left it.
    3. Correct the marked fields. An incorrect field has a warning icon on the right (it is visible while you are not typing in the field and disappears after you edit the text). Tap it. → A panel with the message for that one field slides up.
    4. Tap the form button again. → If everything is correct, the action is performed.
    “Email is a required field”
The email field is empty. This applies to the Login / Register start screen, to Login and to Register. Enter an email, for example john.smith@example.com.
    “Password is a required field”
The password field is empty. This applies to Login, Register and Delete account. Enter the password.
“The password must contain a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number, and must be at least 8 characters long.”
The password you chose when registering is too simple. Choose a password of at least 8 characters that contains a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter (without diacritics) and a number. If the field is empty, you will see this message together with “Password is a required field”.
“You must agree to the terms and conditions”
The consent to the terms is not ticked. This applies to Register, to choosing or changing the main info channel, and to confirming changed terms of service. Tick the consent checkbox.
    “Only numbers are allowed.”
In Profile, the phone number is written in any way other than exactly 9 digits. Write it without spaces, brackets and a prefix, see Change name and phone.
    “Select a phone number prefix.”
In Profile, a phone number is filled in but the prefix is missing. Select +420, +421 or +48.
    “Email required.”
In New sharing, the recipient's email is empty or written in the wrong form, for example without the @ sign. The message says “required” even if the email merely contains a typo. Correct it, see Share your own sensors.
“Please select at least one device.”
In New sharing and when editing a sharing, no sensor or group is selected. Turn on the switch for at least one sensor or group, or turn on Share all.
    “Licence is required.”
The licence number is missing in the Create new sensor form. Enter it or scan it, see Scan a QR code. The municipality administrator does not enter a licence.
“Identifier must contain 16 or more characters.”
The sensor identifier is empty or shorter than 16 characters. Check that you copied it in full.
    “Sensor name is required.”
    Fill in the sensor name.
    “Sensor group is required.”
No sensor group is selected. Tap the Group field and select a group or create a new one, see Select the sensor group.
    “Sensor type is required”
The sensor type is filled in automatically after the identifier is loaded. If it is missing, check the identifier, see The Add / Done button does nothing.
    “Sensor identifier is required.”
In the Add public sensor form, the identifier field is empty. Enter it or scan it.
    “Group name is required”
In the New group panel, the name is empty. However, this panel does not show the message, see The Add / Done button does nothing.
“The value must be equal to or greater than …” and “The value must be equal to or less than …”
The entered value of the sensor parameter is outside the allowed range, the field is empty or it contains no number. The message states the limit and appears directly above the field in the value entry panel. See A number with a decimal comma is not entered correctly.

Result: After you correct all the fields, the form is submitted and the panel no longer appears.

Tip: Two forms behave differently from the others. The New group panel shows nothing when the name is empty, and the panel with alert limits shows a line without text. You will find the solutions in The Add / Done button does nothing and A panel without text appears when saving limits.

Login leads to “Verify your e-mail”

Purpose / when: You log in with an email and password, but nobody has verified the account's email yet. So instead of logging you in, the app opens a screen titled “Verify your e-mail”. The same screen opens right after registration. The password is correct, only the verification is missing.

    1. Read the screen. → Below the label “To the address” is the address to which Sencito sent the verification link. It is the address you entered when logging in.
    2. Open the mailbox at this address, find the message from Sencito (also check the spam folder) and tap the verification link. → A browser opens and the email is marked as verified.
    3. Return to the app and tap I verified my email. → The app logs you in with the password you already entered and continues with the municipality selection or Home.
    4. The message did not arrive? Tap Resend. → A new verification email is sent. The app does not announce it in any way, the message simply arrives in your mailbox shortly. If the email cannot be sent because of the connection, a panel with the text “Chyba” appears (this text is not translated).

Result: The email is verified and you are logged in.

Tip: If you tap I verified my email before you confirm the link, a panel with a message from the server and an OK button appears. Confirm the link in the email and tap the button again.

Note: A detailed description is in Verify your email. Accounts created through Google or Apple are not verified.

    Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions users ask most often. Each has a step-by-step procedure and a link to the detailed description.

Why don't I see a sensor on Home?

Purpose / when: Home shows only the sensors you marked with a star, so-called favourites. All other sensors are in the Sensors tab.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap Sensors. → The sensor list opens. Your own sensors are in the My segment, sensors that someone shares with you are in the Shared segment. The municipality administrator account has no segments and shows only its own sensors.
    2. Tap the name of the group the sensor is in. → The group expands and you see its sensors.
    3. Tap the star on the right of the sensor. → The star fills in and the sensor is a favourite.
    4. In the bottom bar, tap Home. → The sensor is in the My sensors list, or under the name of the person who shares it with you.

Result: The marked sensor is visible on Home. You remove the star by tapping it again.

Tip: The sensor is a favourite and you still do not see it? The lists on Home can be collapsed by tapping their heading (the triangle icon on the right). Expand them, see Collapse or expand a group.

Tip: You can mark a new or public sensor as a favourite already when you add it, using the Mark as favourite option. Details are in Mark a sensor as favourite and Expand a sensor group.

Note: If the Home of a logged-in municipality administrator is empty, it shows the hint “Here you will see your favorite sensors”. Favourites are set in the same way, with the star in the sensor list.

Favourite sensors are missing on a new phone

Purpose / when: Favourites (stars) are stored only in the phone, not with your account. On a new phone, after reinstalling the app or after clearing the app's data, you therefore start again. The sensors themselves remain on your account.

    1. Log in on the new phone with your account. → All your sensors are in the Sensors tab. If the municipality has default favourite sensors set, they are added to Home on their own at the first login.
    2. In the bottom bar, tap Sensors, expand the group and tap the star of each sensor you want on Home. → The stars are saved to this phone.

Result: Your favourite sensors are on Home again.

Note: Stars are not transferred between phones. If you have two phones, mark your favourites on both. They are stored separately for each email, so after logging in with a different account you will see that account's favourites.

Tip: The marking procedure is described in Mark a sensor as favourite. What stays in the phone after logout is described in I share my phone with someone else.

    I do not receive notifications

Purpose / when: Notifications come from three places and each has its own settings: from the phone, from the sensor and from the municipality. Go through the steps in this order.

    1. Allow notifications for Sencito in the phone settings. On Android this is usually Settings → Apps → Sencito → Notifications, on iPhone Settings → Notifications → Sencito (the names may differ depending on the phone). → Without permission, the phone does not display notifications even if you turn them on in the app. See also Allow notifications.
    2. Alerts on a sensor value: in the bottom bar, tap Sensors, expand the group, tap the sensor and in its detail open the Notice tab. Check that:
      • the switch for the quantity you are monitoring is on (the card expands),
      • at least one limit is filled in, Value is greater than or Value is less than, see Set limits (greater than / less than),
      • the Application switch is on, or E-mail or SMS, see Choose how the alert arrives,
      • you tapped Save in the bottom bar. → The Save / Discard bar disappears. Without saving, the changes apply only in the phone, see Save changes.
    3. Messages from the municipality: in the bottom bar, tap Profile, find the line “How you want to receive messages:” under the main info channel or another information source and turn on the Application switch. For another information source, the switch next to its name must be on, otherwise the delivery options are not shown. → The change is saved immediately and “Data saved successfully” appears. Also check that you have ticked the areas under the label “Information from public groups:”, see How you want to receive messages and Groups you are interested in.
    4. Alerts set by the municipality or an administrator for all users of the sensor: in Profile, in the Notifications section, turn on the System notifications switch. → These alerts arrive by email and in the app. Turning it off does not turn off municipality messages or your own sensor alerts, see System notifications.
    Value is greater than
An alert arrives when the measured value exceeds the entered number. Write decimal numbers with a point, see A number with a decimal comma is not entered correctly.
    Value is less than
An alert arrives when the measured value drops below the entered number. At least one of the limits must be filled in in the panel for entering limits. Some quantities, for example the alarm state, have no limits and alert simply by turning on the switch.
    Application, E-mail, SMS
How you receive the alert. After a quantity is turned on, Application is on. The SMS line appears only for sensors that support SMS, see Cannot turn on SMS.
    Validity
The time window in which alerts arrive. Did you change it? Check that the time you expect the alert falls within it, see Set the validity period of alerts.

Result: When the sensor condition is met or when there is a new municipality message, a notification arrives.

Tip: Did you deny notifications in the phone? The Application switch in the app stays on, but notifications do not arrive. The app offers no link to the phone settings, you must change the permission yourself in the phone settings.

    Cannot turn on SMS

Purpose / when: SMS have stricter conditions than email and notifications in the app. Municipality messages reach you by SMS only from the main info channel and only when a phone number is saved. For sensors, the sensor itself must also support SMS.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap Profile. → The My Profile screen opens.
    2. Tap the prefix to the left of the Phone field (until one is selected it shows “--”) and select +420, +421 or +48. → The panel closes and the prefix is shown in the form.
    3. Enter 9 digits without spaces in the Phone field. → The number appears in the field.
    4. Tap Save. → “Data saved successfully” appears and the phone number is saved. Details are in Change name and phone.
    5. In the Main info channel section, under the label “How you want to receive messages:”, turn on the SMS switch. → Before the phone number is saved, the note “Add and save a phone number” is in its place. After saving, the switch appears. The change is saved immediately.
    6. Want SMS for sensor alerts? In the sensor detail, open the Notice tab, turn on the quantity and turn on the SMS switch. Finally, tap Save. → SMS arrive at the phone number saved in Profile.
    Prefix
The choices are +420, +421 and +48. It is required as soon as a phone number is filled in. Otherwise the message “Select a phone number prefix.” appears.
    Phone
Leave the field empty or enter exactly 9 digits without spaces and without a prefix. Any other format is reported by the message “Only numbers are allowed.”
    SMS (municipality messages)
The switch exists only for the main info channel and only when a phone number is saved. For other sources, the note “Main channel only” is shown in its place.
    SMS (sensor alerts)
The line is shown only for sensors that support SMS. If it is missing for your sensor, that sensor cannot send SMS.

Result: The SMS switch is on and SMS arrive at the saved phone number.

Tip: If you change the phone number in Profile, the new number is automatically used for your existing SMS sensor alerts as well.

A number with a decimal comma is not entered correctly

Purpose / when: In alert limits and in numeric sensor parameters, the app accepts only a decimal point. A comma is not written into the field.

    1. Enter the number with a decimal point in the field, for example 25.5 or -3.5. → The number appears in the field. A comma is not written into the field, pressing the comma key is ignored. The following digits are therefore appended to the previous ones, and 25,5 becomes 255.
    2. Tap Done (for alert limits) or OK (for a sensor parameter). → The value is accepted and the panel closes. The Cancel button (for limits) or Close (for a parameter) closes the panel without any change.
Value is greater than, Value is less than
Alert limits. Digits, one decimal point and a minus sign at the start are allowed. An empty field means that this limit does not apply. The field name is followed by the unit in brackets, for example (°C).
    Numeric sensor parameter
A field in the value entry panel in the sensor detail, Settings tab. For whole-number parameters, enter a whole number without a decimal part. If the value is outside the allowed range, the field is empty or it contains no number, “The value must be equal to or greater than …” or “The value must be equal to or less than …” appears above the field, with the relevant limit.

Result: The number is accepted including the decimal part. The change is so far only in the phone, you save it with the Save bar at the bottom of the screen.

Tip: If your numeric keyboard does not offer a point, try switching in the phone to another keyboard that has it.

Note: Setting limits is described in Set limits (greater than / less than), changing numeric parameters in Change a numeric or text parameter.

A panel without text appears when saving limits

Purpose / when: In the panel with the Value is greater than and Value is less than fields, both fields are empty and you tap Done. The app shows a panel with a warning icon but without text. It means: fill in at least one limit.

    1. Tap OK. → The panel without text closes. The panel with the fields stays open.
    2. Enter a number into at least one field, for example 30 into Value is greater than. Leave the other field empty if that limit should not apply. → The number appears in the field. Write decimal numbers with a point, see A number with a decimal comma is not entered correctly.
    3. Tap Done. → The panel closes and the limit appears on the quantity card. The change is so far only in the phone.
    4. Tap the Save bar at the bottom of the screen. → The limits are saved and the bar disappears.

Result: The limit is set and the alert is triggered when the value exceeds the limit.

Tip: Don't want any limit? Tap Cancel, the panel closes without any change. If you don't want an alert for the quantity at all, turn off the switch on its card and tap Save.

Note: The detailed procedure is in Set limits (greater than / less than).

The Add / Done button does nothing

Purpose / when: You tap Add for a new sensor or Done for a new group and nothing happens. No message appears and the screen does not close. In these two cases the app does not report the problem.

    1. New sensor, Create new sensor form: check the Sensor identifier field. Re-type it or scan it, see Scan a QR code. → The app adds the sensor only when it recognises the device type. If it does, the Sensor type field fills in on its own (the app determines it when you leave the identifier field) and Add works. If it does not, the button stays silent. An identifier that the server rejects is reported by the app with a message.
    2. New group, New group panel: fill in the Group name field and tap Done. → If the name is empty, Done does nothing. The Description field is optional. After the group is created successfully, the panel closes and the group is in the menu.
    3. The name is filled in and the group was not created? Check your connection and tap Done again. → On a connection error the app reports nothing. Try again after the connection is restored.
    4. If the problem persists, contact your municipality or support.

Result: The sensor is added, or the new group is created and can be selected.

Tip: Other problems when adding a sensor are reported by the app with a message. If required data is missing, it shows a panel with a list of errors. If the server rejects the addition, it shows its text, see Panel with a list of errors in a form and Message with text from the server.

Note: The procedures are described in Register a new sensor and Create a new group.

The map does not show my location

Purpose / when: You do not see your location on the map, or when you set a sensor's location the map does not open at your place. The app needs the location permission and precise location.

    1. Open the phone settings and find the permissions of the Sencito app. On Android this is usually Settings → Apps → Sencito → Permissions → Location, on iPhone Settings → Sencito → Location (the names may differ depending on the system version). → The location permission options appear.
    2. Allow location while using the app. → The app can find out where you are.
    3. Turn on precise location. On iPhone it is the Precise Location switch, on Android the option for precise location. → With only approximate location, the app does not use your position.
    4. Check that location (GPS) is turned on in the phone, return to the app and open the map again. → Your location appears on the map, together with a button that moves the map to your place.

Result: The map shows your location.

Note: The app asks explicitly for location when you set the location of a new sensor (Create new sensor, Sensor location, map). Elsewhere it uses it only if you allowed it in the phone.

Tip: Don't want to allow location? The map then opens at a default place. Move it so that the marker in the middle shows the sensor's place and tap Done, see Set the sensor location. You open the map of public sensors from Home, see Open the map of public sensors.

The QR scanner does not work

Purpose / when: The QR scanner is available at the Licence number field (citizen account only) and the Sensor identifier field when adding a sensor, and at the Sensor identifier field when adding a public sensor. It needs access to the camera.

    1. In the form, tap the QR code icon at the end of the field. → The scanner opens with the camera image.
    2. If the texts “Please allow access to the camera” and “Access to the camera is required to scan QR codes.” appear instead of the camera, tap Allow. → The Sencito settings in the phone open.
    3. In the settings, allow the camera and return to the app. → The scanner shows the camera image.
    4. Point the phone at the QR code and hold it still for a moment. → After the code is read, the scanner closes on its own and the value is filled into the field.
    5. Don't want to allow the camera, or the code cannot be read? Tap Cancel and type the identifier or licence number by hand. → The scanner closes and the field is left for manual entry.

Result: The code is read, or you entered the data by hand.

Tip: The code is read better in good lighting and from a distance at which it is sharp. Scanning is not mandatory, the identifier can always be typed by hand. The procedure is described in Scan a QR code.

How do I export sensor data?

Purpose / when: You are looking for an export of sensor values, for example to a spreadsheet, or a chart for a custom period. The mobile app does not export sensor data and does not offer a custom period.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap Sensors and tap a sensor. → The sensor detail opens, on the Information tab.
    2. In the Time datasets part, select the period Day, Week, Month or Year. → The charts are recalculated. No other period can be selected, see Change the chart period.
    3. For data export and a custom period, use the web application at moje.chytrejsiobec.cz. → You log in to the web application with your account.

Result: In the mobile app you see charts for a day, a week, a month and a year. The web application offers more detailed work with data.

A sharing change did not appear in the list

Purpose / when: You edited what you share (the Done button on the Sharing screen), or the other person accepted your invitation, but the Sensors list, My share segment, still shows the original state. After these changes the list refreshes only after a delay. Accepting or declining an invitation and removing a shared item, on the other hand, show in the Sensors list immediately.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap Sensors. → The sensor list opens.
    2. Pull the list down with your finger and release. → The text “Data refreshing” appears, the app downloads new data and the list is redrawn, see Refresh data by pulling down.
    3. If you don't pull, wait. → In the open app, the data also refreshes on its own within 5 minutes and when you return to the app from another app.

Result: The list shows the current state of sharing.

Tip: The same applies when the other person made the change, for example accepted your invitation. It shows on your side after a refresh. You will find the procedures in Share your own sensors and Change what you share.

I share my phone with someone else

Purpose / when: Several people use the phone and you want to know what stays in the phone after logout. Closing the app does not end the login, you have to log out.

    1. In the bottom bar, tap Profile and at the top right tap Logout. → The “Logout” panel slides up with the text “Do you really want to log out?” and the buttons Cancel and OK.
    2. Tap OK. → The app logs you out and shows the Login / Register start screen. See also Log out.
    3. The next person logs in with their own account. → They see their own data. The previous account's data is not shown.
    Favourite sensors
They stay in the phone, separately for each email. After you log in with the same account you will see them again, a different account will not.
    Selected stop in My stop
It stays in the phone and is shared by all accounts. The next user will see it. They change it with the Change stop button, see Find and select a stop.
    Other local settings
They are deleted, for example the selected Appearance, collapsed groups on Home and turned-off additional information sources.

Result: After logout, only the favourite sensors and the selected stop stay in the phone, other local settings are deleted.

Tip: If you don't log out, the next person will see your account and its sensors. Always log out before you hand the phone over.

The app is in a different language

Purpose / when: The app language follows the phone language. The app supports Czech, English and Polish. With any other phone language it is shown in English. The language cannot be switched in the app.

    1. Open the phone settings and change the system language to Czech, English or Polish. If your phone allows it, you can change just the language of the Sencito app. → The phone uses the chosen language.
    2. Return to the app. If the language did not change, close the app and start it again. → The app is shown in the chosen language.

Result: The app uses the language you chose in the phone.

Note: The Notification language line in Profile changes only the language of the messages Sencito sends you (email, notifications, SMS). It does not change the language of the app, see Notification language.

Tip: Messages from the server are displayed in the same language as the app, that is, in the phone language. More in App language.

I sign in with Google/Apple and the app asks for a password

Purpose / when: After your login expires, the app opens the Login recovery screen with a password field. A Google or Apple account has no password, though, so you have nothing to enter there.

    1. On the Login recovery screen, tap Logout. → The app logs you out and returns you to the start screen. With a Google or Apple account, a browser window may briefly open to complete the logout.
    2. Tap Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, that is, the same button you used to sign in before. → A browser window with the sign-in opens.
    3. Sign in in the browser window. → The browser returns to the app on its own and Home opens.

Result: You are signed in again and can carry on working.

Caution: A Google or Apple account has no password, so do not look for one or create one. Always sign in with the same button, not with email and password.
